pil, ha, I thought those Marisas would be too slim, tok. Maybe should try. The Marisa crops( for casual) were awful on me--the pleating started too low, or something.
You all are helping me focus on the black for now, which do help my basic workday outfits, and hold.out for something else.

Those elusive oxfords would probably do the trick with the lighter pants, wouldn't they? I actually like all of the pants, including the older pairs. Love the polka dot blouse! Not as fond of the pink one.

If you're still on the fence about the linen pants, I just bought a cotton/linen blend from Loft. I've been wearing them unrolled full length. They may be too casual for your needs though. Reading the description online I thought they might be too straight through the hips, but they're not.

Love the new dark AT trousers - please keep! The lighter pair might be a smidge tight through the hip area to cause that pulling. They may well ease a bit with wearing though. It wouldn't be as noticeable in a darker colour, but I hear you about wanting a lighter shade for summer.

Suz, you may have helped me be strong. I like the drape and I like some pink but I think it's too insipid. Fades into the background. The silk polka dot top shown is a similar style but I like the bolder look-- not just that it's black! Funny how I couldn't just leave this one in the store but had to noodle on it. I agree about footwear, which is why it might be simpler to forego, as it's harder to create a capsule.
It's so hard to find what I call mid- range tones-- not black but not white or cream- in updated pants styles.

Definitely keep your new AT trousers - those are a real improvement!

I also like the linen pants, but would prefer them, I think, in a lighter, more tone-on-tone look, with lighter footwear and belt. I wouldn't worry about the creasing - that's linen! But then I am (relatively) at peace with the crease, and that is a personal tolerance level thing.

I like the colours of the top, but something about it isn't doing it for me. I think it is the scale/ type of print, but I have a bit of a poison eye for small florals (and then, mysteriously, fall in love with the odd one). I might like it with a jacket over, though, and if you love I am sure you can make it work for you.

Rachylou # 4 is the older wider AT's as are # 10 and it's getting harder to reach for them as they do look more mannish somehow.
Kellygirl, thank you for your suggestions. The linen pants are way too long so are tucked up for the photo. I can wear tops out, with them. I really like a natural/ stone/ colored pant for summer, and if its not too casual , I can wear to work, but these may not be the ones.

The cut of the new "keeper" pants looks great. It is slimmer and looks a little lower rise than the pair in #10. I tend to agree with rachylou that the pants in 10 look a little masculine to my eye. Nothing wrong with that--and it could probably by off set by a softer blouse or shell. Can you wear those pants untucked with a sweater like in 1?

The new blouse is pretty. I like the soft drape. Hard to tell the color from the photos though. The linen pants look especially nice with the untucked tee. It has a more relaxed vibe that I associate with linen pants. Are the pants a little short though?

#4 is the only pair that bugs me a little. I quite like all the others. They're a little on the mannish side, but it's the "Ellen" side of the mannish side and I quite like her style. I love your spring shirt, btw! Love!

I may have found “my” new trouser width for a wardrobe staple/classic, to which I can add trendier styles here and there.

#1-3—Keeping! new AT curvy “straight leg” triacetate blend with good drape and lined and about 2-3 ‘ narrower than “trouser” style but still a trouser vibe. Also no side pockets; fit better through hip. This is not NOT the same as on –line—At has a rayon-blend curvy straight-leg on line, went to store, found petite, too fitted, asked to try regular and SA came back with these and didn’t realize they were a different style and fabric. Hems look funny as are folded up. These still drape over a variety of higher-vamped “comfort” shoes/oxfords/boots which some narrower styles do not. Would love this width in not-black and in wool tweedy/microchecks.

#4 For reference, my AT pants in “trouser” style shown with same top. These have about 20-21 ” wide legs and look more schtumpifying to me, hence a change desired. Photos may not show the difference, but is more so IRL.

5-9 # AT Linen-cotton pants—K/R dilemma here. Wide-ish leg, but love the fit and rise for belting/tucking. . An AHA! kind of fit. Love at first zip but then… the creasing starts. I moved & sat to crease them up to see if it’s tolerable fashion-wise and me-wise. Not sure; a whole day of wear should crease much more. Pants are problematic compared to jackets because of um, where the creasing is. I did note that they crease sharply when I sit, then relax a bit when up moving around—or, wishful thinking? I would wear these to work, so, would I look fashionably Southern-rumpled or like a hot mess? I love the wheaty color and weightier fabric; frustrated re: the linen. Keep, or return and list them as an aspirational-fit dream?

#3 & 9,10, 11 Trying AT abstract print blouse in springy colors. Short placket & drapey material aids in trying Angie’s fully-tucked faux tuck. ? too much like pajamas? Too boyish? Too 60’s? #10 is Blouse with my “old” AT olive-gray trousers –are even wider than the standard black trouser. Matches blouse, but lot of volume. I just love this color—goes with black + colors-- but the width is killing me now.#11 is blouse worn high-low over skinnier pants--not for work.
