Rae, I went back and read a bunch of Angie's posts on this. I think to some extent it depends on the width of the leg. Some straight legs will be wide enough to go over a shoe, and others won't. If they're too narrow, treat more or less as skinnies, scrunching as you like or not (so it would be okay to wear a bit shorter, too, to taste). If they ARE wide enough to go over the shoe then you can wear a bit longer. It makes sense, really.

These ones are wide enough that I can actually wear them OVER tall boots if I want (though I probably wouldn't) but not wide enough to go cover a shoe in any way.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread, becasue I didn't know the answer. Very pleased to see that this is the correct length - it's how I've been wearing my straight legs, since they are too narrow to drape over my wedges. Woohoo!

Suz, they look great! I've given up on skinny jeans and wear narrow straight legs instead. I need a higher rise and the James Jean Hunter has become my best friend.

<whew...fans self after a K rating for JEANS, no less!! Now I must go review them for the store...but I will wait until I have washed so I can report on shrinkage.>

Claire, you crack me up! Honestly, you really SHOULD be a writer. No joke.

Re the Gap: Definitely try these jeans; they will not cling as tightly to your slender legs but might be just the look you have been after. And then wait for a sale/coupon to buy them.

In addition to the slub t (which I didn't end up buying) they had, for $10 (at my store) a cotton-modal blend which is what I am wearing. It is very comfortable. I don't know how it will wash and the neckline might be too high for some, but as a small busted person living in a cold climate it works for me for winter. And covers my bony chest. The blue cotton-modal one would be a gorgeous colour on you.

Thank you, morethanbeige....so sweet!

Hahahaha! I thought Kristen was talking about your "booty" as opposed to your "booties" for a minute....I just couldn't understand how she could wear her jeans lower on her bootie, lol!

I just found out there is a Gap between here and the airport, where I have to go to pick up the hubs today (YAY). I will be rifling through the stacks looking for some Real Straights that I can only hope look *half* as good as these do on you! I'm also intrigued by the Skinny Boot, so I'll post a thread if I have any luck. I'll be checking out the slubbed T, too. I hope they are well-stocked.

I am a big fan of GAP Real Straight pants and jeans. These look terrific on you!

As for PPL, I wear mine much lower down on the bootie, so to my eye those look too short for the bootie you have on. I buy the longs for heels and the regular for flats and boots. But Angie is really the best at PPL so I would go with whatever she suggests.

Great jeans Suz. I think the length is good on you and they look good with the shoes and the boots. The sad thing with GAP is that you can find the perfect jean and their sizing is so far out that you may never be able to recreate the look. Hang on to those babies.

Oh my goodness, you are most certainly not the only one who suffers from this problem! I have this problem as well. To the point that my knees hurt from the weird pressure some skinnies can put on them as they catch on my calves. I have been happy with the rail straights at Madewell. You might give them a look.
As far as these particular jeans on you, I would vote for a bit shorter. When it comes to straight leg jeans/pants (and I prefer them over boot cut/flares) these seem to have a bit too much break. Straight legs will show a bit more shoe than boot cuts/flares. And they should be straight with perhaps just a teensy break. Angie may feel differently on this but, this is my opinion.

LOL, Julie - I like to tuck them, for sure...but sometimes you want to wear your pants and not your boots, no? Just to avoid the lemming look we were talking about in another thread. (Skinnies, tall boots, top, which has become so ubiquitous in some areas lately it's a uniform.) Actually, I have no objections to looking like everybody else, but I also like to wear my jeans with shoes, booties, or sandals sometimes. As long as I stay standing, they look great!

These look great on you and I went to my closet moments ago and have 27/4a GAP 1969 Real Straight jeans and you look a heck of a lot better in them! I mean that. As for the stretch in our jeans, I much prefer this to what we had without them. I find this adds so much comfort and movement to jeans. p.s. I had to do a deja vu with the link you included.

It's weird...jeans are so much better than they were back when I was a teenager. I had so many fit problems then. And yet one problem I didn't have was this constant readjustment. It came with stretchier fabrics, I guess. Hmmm.
