Here's to lots of luck and serenity during the updating and renovating stage. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/real-estate-update-and-thank-you#post-1815668 Thu, 15 Jun 2017 10:50:40 +0000 viva 1815668@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Laurie, we ended up in a single family home as a result of several factors:</p> <p>We did not want a large condo complex, so that really limited our choices condo-wise<br />We were hoping to be close to town, which limited options even further<br />I got a little turned off by some of the condo settings we saw and some of the potential issues of being that close to neighbors, especially with us having dogs<br />The market is rabid, and we were beaten out of the best condos / townhomes (lost a couple of bids)<br />We needed some kind of outdoor space for our dogs</p> <p>Ultimately, we went with a little house that was IN town and had an actual yard. </p> <p>This little house has a good foundation and siding, and although it needs some work initially -- new roof, new heating system, some renovating -- it's going to be pretty well completely up-to-date when we move in. (As Smittie noted, it's amazing how much less expensive it is to make improvements to a small house -- the roof alone was less than half the cost of doing the roof on our family home ten years ago!) And it has a tiny backyard which will suit the dogs really well. They are used to having an acre to roam, and we are so happy we will still be able to open the kitchen slider and let them out in the new house.</p> <p>I'm glad we ended up with our own little space.
