A wetsuit would negate the benefits! https://hubermanlab.com/the-sc.....rformance/

There's probably a way to translate this into English https://www.tip-berlin.de/life.....den-berlin, but if not, the first pic alone tells you that Berliner are hardy folk. If they do the plunge without swimsuits, it would also be without wetsuits or any textiles of any kind, as is generally required in saunas (and "sauna" is understood to include not just the hot rooms, but also lounging areas at normal room temps and cold baths/showers) here. https://www.top10berlin.de/de/...../sauna-975

ETA Carla, we were posting at the same time. Fun event! Gotta say though that I love the look on the little blonde boy (maybe 5 years old) running away from the water.

The DS’s did a polar bear plunge 5 years ago on New Year’s Day at Brigantine, NJ on the east coast after we attended a NYE wedding as a family. There were hundreds of folks. Everyone wore regular bathing suits.

Looked something like this! https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t.....2ahUKEwjqz

A client asking me to do anything in a swimsuit (or in nothing) would freak me out. I thought of polar bear plunges today too, but in the opposite direction—want to find a group that does them.

Update- I returned the Land's End one and got this one in Finds, cause it said it was chlorine resistant. The fabric is still nearly black after a few weeks...however...the thread is definitely not chlorine resistant! Boo :(
Plus they're changing to full chlorine this week. Apparently the salt has been corroding the pipes :/

Suntiger, I wear a 1mm Springsuit jacket when swimming in the ocean in cooler weather, similar to this one by Billabong. Chlorine will bleach most things, I bought a special detergent to wash swimming togs in and it helps to minimise the fading, but everything still fades even with the most diligent aftercare.

So I contacted LE. They said I could return it, but they didn't have any chlorine resistant rash guards. I don't want to return it til I have a new one in hand though, cause I'll freeze in just my swimsuit alone.
Looking at this one, supposedly chlorine proof, so far the best option I think. https://www.swimoutlet.com/pro.....rd-8192400
The SPF doesn't matter to me at all cause the pool is inside and I don't burn anyway. I just want the extra layer of warmth.
This rashguard is pretty loose, so easy to put on and off. I think it did stretch, but I have always tied the side. I definitely don't want something so tight that it's a struggle.

I use a wetsuit made specifically for swimming. They are cut differently from surf suits, apparently. It was not cheap, but I’ve had my current suit (by orca) for 5 years+, and it only developed a small hole last year. Having it means I swim year round, instead of deciding it’s too cold. Plus I am very fair skinned, and it much reduces how much sunblock I need to use. The negative- getting it on takes effort, it’s tight!
I often buy the largest kids size rash suit - it’s unforgiving but I prefer the lack of drag.
If I’ve done a lot of swimming and have tired arms, getting out of a tight rashsuit can be challenging, I always think about the zipper versions then!

My complaint about rashguards isn't usually about fading but rather stretching out. I've had good luck with Athleta and Lands End in the past. This year I'm trying out one from sea folly b/c I was intrigued by having one that zips up the front. So far my only complaint is that I may have to have the sleeves altered as it stretched out, if only more rashguards came in petite sizes!

I can understand not wanting a long sleeve swimsuit, I have one and it's great for sun protection but really a pain to get in/out of in the restroom at the pool once I'm wet. There are short sleeve 'paddle board' suits out there, I have one I get compliments on, my only complaint is that it doesn't have the midsection support I'd like to have in suits https://www.us.okanui.com/prod.....iant=42818

When I was doing an early morning swim class and found getting cold was the biggest point of friction for me getting to the pool, I started wearing a scuba diving "skin". It made all the difference in how much I enjoyed my time in the pool. https://www.swimoutlet.com/pro.....16&am

I just bought this rashguard a few weeks ago and it already faded to grey I use it for swimming over my suit cause the pool is colder than I'd like, even in the middle of summer. Also figured I'd use it for paddling on colder fall days.

I know people buy them as sun protection, not warmth, so are there better options for cold (80 degrees so not cold cold) pools? It's actually a good weight for swimming, I just don't like how quick it faded.

ETA I know long sleeve swim suits exist, but I'd rather not get a whole other suit and deal with all the fit issues.
