This is what I was wearing today. Gear lite, I guess.

I'm about to go shopping with a client in this weather and I am not wearing gear at all! Granted I am not waiting at a bus stop. I will be undercover most of the day.

I am wearing robust and weatherproof footwear and warm woolies. We will spend most of the time in Nordies and the Pacific Place Shopping Centre. I will also be driving to parking.

Gear is king here for rainwear, as Anna notes. There's a Patagonia store downtown, and a Columbia store, and REI flagship is worth a visit just because the store is so cool. Eddie Bauer is a local company, and they have a store downtown. I can't think of a specialty store for stylish rainwear, but most boutiques do carry raincoats, so anywhere you pop in is likely to have some nice ones to try.

Locals wear gear for the most part. On the bus this morning it was all gear, including me.
Outdoor Research is local. They recently did an awesome send up photo shoot of a GQ spread.
http://www.avclub.com/article/.....ile-243361
Better comparison https://blog.thedyrt.com/camp/.....-response/
If you're looking for more rugged/heritage there's Filson, not cheap. Though their store on SoDo is cool, & depending on day you can see their bags being made. I bought one of their jackets, but returned it because the oiled fabric was a bit too much for me & didn't want to wait for it to wear down.
ETA there is a lot of the modified gear. Like the North Face trenches, etc.

If one found oneself in Seattle for a few days during a period of more persistent precipitation than anticipated, where would one best shop for rainwear? Thinking more of items meant to last, rather than emergency stopgaps. And more polished, rather than gear.

Are there boutiques carrying relevant items made by local designers?
