One of my quilts is made with a outer surface material made of bamboo derived rayon. I'm not sure what the stuffing is as I'm not home right now. It's the weight exactly between a cotton quilt and typical polyester stuffed comforter. I find that it works great for spring and fall and can be added to for deep winter. Unfortunately I got it mail order from a credit card "buy it for less with points promotion" so I can't point to a particular retailer.

I bought from here last year for ethical down sourcing reasons. Maybe try a summer-weight duvet. https://ringsted-dun.dk/en/pro.....m-classic/

FWIW our "summer weight" duvets bought in Germany are stuffed with cotton and silk. Nice weight, not warm enough for winter, absent hormone wildness.

The key to not-sweating and not freezing for me is flannel sheets. Other sheets make me sweat/freeze. LLBean's heritage flannel are about as crisp as flannel sheets can get, and I've tried several brands. Don't even bother with Lands End - they cost twice as much, pill for months, and aren't worth the aggravation because they wear out way too fast for a $200 set of sheets. We have an electric fleece mattress pad that you'd have to pry from my cold dead hands, flannel sheets, and a soft light comforter (and a thin polartec blanket) and we sleep with the window wide open so the room temp is as cold as possible.

Isabel, I find the weight calming. If it shifts, I am bound to wake up. But I can't do tucked in sheets either; those feel claustrophobic.

Company Store has many different weights and materials. I sent back a "very warm" one because it weighed a ton and I thought if I washed it I'd have trouble pulling it out of the washer but the medium weights are all great and even a lightweight could be useful. I'm a very active sleeper so I like to be able to wrap and unwrap myself.

Interesting that you specify "feels heavy weight-wise", I know someone who likes that too. Maybe the solution would be a thinner down quilt for breathable-ness and a coverlet for weight.

Thank you for the recommendations. I am planning to shop in a brick and mortar store since it is difficult to assess weight and fill online.

Check LL Bean and read the reviews for their comforters. I only sleep under blankets as I like it cool when I sleep. I have a light weight blanket for the warmer months and a heavier one for the winter months from LL Bean. Their quality is phenomenal. The comforter I have from them I purchased years ago and it is still in great condition - I just don't use it anymore.

I like a rather thin comforter from Pottery Barn a few years ago. It is similar to a quilt but a bit more puffy. It has some weight and is good as it is in the summer and with a fleece blanket under it in winter. They run a bit small so size up...King size for Queen bed etc.

My personal temperature is probably very different from yours, but I like a matelasse coverlet. It's that textured woven stuff, usually one color. I have a white one I got from the Southern Living collection at Dillard's. I run cold so it's nowhere near enough for me in winter, but it's good in summer. I really like having a coverlet over me and this fits the bill. They tend to be fairly densely woven and thus feel heavy, but are not that thick.

I wish I had an answer for you. I drive my husband crazy with flinging the covers off, and then pulling them up when I get cold. AND I even switch out my pjs sometimes in the middle of the night. It’s wild how my body temp fluctuates these days....

No advice but I feel much the same way. I like the weight of a comforter but then end up throwing off the covers because because I'm too hot --then I'm clammy feeling and cold and the whole process repeats. For me it's definitely hormonal.

For years now we have used a down blanket, not a down comforter, and it is the perfect weight for summer and winter. In the coldest of winter I might add a blanket but it isn't usually needed.

Oh, I have this issue. I can't sleep under just a blanket or sheet or on top of the covers. My favourite comforter is from IKEA. Lightweight but fluffy. Unfortunately, they haven't carried this weight comforter in years. I've been searching on the terms 'summer weight comforter' and 'bedspread' and 'coverlet.' The only thing is, I haven't found one in a pattern/colour that works. TBH, my IKEA coverlet completely clashes with everything and always has...

I keep the house as low as my family will tolerate but have come to the conclusion that something is off with me. Maybe hormonal? None of my old comforters are working for me. I feel clammy and sweaty but feel cold with just a thin blanket.

I need something that feels heavy weight-wise but is breathable and not so warm. Any recommendations, YLFers?
