I also like the Uniqlo heattech tees and camisoles. They provide warmth without bulk. And being so thin, work under any tops. I like them under sweaters and button shirts. I just bought a turtleneck version but haven't worn it yet. I have some that are at least 5 years old and have been worn and washed so many times. I always pack one because you never know when you will need that extra layer.

Yes, those were my thoughts, too, Maneera. Nothing wrong with them, perfectly serviceable, but nothing to get super-excited about either. And it's a bit of an effort for me to get to a Uniqlo and fight through the crowds to find my size, so I doubt I'll bother again. Glad they are working for others, though.

Eliza, high five. My heattech tees are at least 5 years old. Still going strong.

I have quite a collection of heattech and wore it daily through a very challenging northeast winter. I like that it seems warm when you need it to be, yet not too hot when indoors. I have had some of my heattech for 5 years and find it holds up well. I can't compare it to other products as I haven't tried them recently.

Glad the packable jacket worked. They do come in handy for travel. Thanks for the review. I wonder if there are any packable ones good for more extreme temperatures.

Interesting. I LOVE Uniqlo's heattech long sleeved tees and find them a cut above the rest. They fit and feel better than any other thermals I've tried.

I'm going to look at their hooded puffers soon.

Ive got 3 heattech tights this year and I'm not very impressed either. I do have one of the super warm ones but I'm yet to wear that. While there is nothing technically 'wrong' with them, they aren't anything special either. Considering that I got them especially from London and Singapore (we don't have Uniqlo in India yet) they aren't any better than the regular tights I find in local markets.

I like heattech but then I'm in the Bay Area. The tights, for me, do the trick. Warmer than normal stockings but not thick and fuzzy. I like the heattech tops because they're thin and I'm really about protection from the winter wool sweaters and how bad waffle weave thermals look under a blouse.

Thanks for the review. I've had that same exprience with my Uniqlo packable down vest - good for Bay Area winters but not for serious cold. I actually love Uniqlo but for a real winter, I'd try their heavy (nonpackable) down jackets

I meant to post about this when I got back from my trip to Idaho, but life got busy. Before we headed to Boise, I picked up the packable down jacket and two Heattech tops at Uniqlo - one camisole and one long-sleeved scoop-neck t-shirt. The jacket performed admirably - it really does pack down in a small stuff bag, and it was nice to have a second coat option without having to pack and haul around two full-sized coats. It isn't super-warm - it wouldn't do for proper winter when the wind's really blowing, unless you layered it under something else. But in 30s-50s temps, going in and out from the car and buildings, it was a nice weight and not a pain to carry around.

I was less impressed with the Heattech. I wore both pieces under tops and sweaters, and honestly they didn't seem any warmer than the plain knit camisoles I have from Target. I definitely wouldn't wear them for any occasion where I'd be outside for long periods. Uniqlo does have a 'super-warm' version of heattech that I haven't tried.

I had a hard time finding the XLs, even though they do nominally carry them in stores. If I wanted an XXL - which would be nice if I were going to wear the jacket over several layers of sweater/top - I'd have to order online. I guess Uniqlo's prices are good - I paid ~$50 for the jacket and less than $20 for each top - but I'd be more likely to spend a bit more and get something more substantial from Lands' End, Winter Silks, North Face, etc.
