Select services are free on full-priced merchandise.</p> <p>I believe that hemming denim is one of these free services, and I think it is extended for the Anniversary sale, although you could check on this with a quick online chat with Customer Service.</p> <p>Also, you could wait to return the items to the store rather than mailing them back. Each alteration is charged to the card, then refunded but counts toward the annual budget amount. It doesn't matter if you purchased online (I get alterations at the Rack as well). However, as a short-legged petite, I will most likely need alterations (28.5-29" inseam). Two questions: </p> <p>1) I've heard that the free alterations on regular-price items also applies to NAS, is this true? Otherwise, do I need to be a cardholder and use those free alterations?</p> <p>2) Can I bring in online orders several weeks after the fact to be altered in-store? Where I am for the summer, until mid-August, is 2-3 hours away from a Nordstrom, but when I go back to the East Coast there will be one at my local mall. I was thinking that I could order a few pairs of jeans and try them on, send back the ones I don't want, and then get the keepers hemmed a month later. Will this plan work? (And do all Nordstroms have on-site alterations? The one I'd be visiting is very small, as far as department stores go.) </p>
