I think it's not the ankle, Manidipa. It's the shape of those heels, and the heels with zips may be made purposely a little longer (or wider) to facilitate the zip-pull itself. I'm not sure. All I know is I've been trying and trying to no avail with this type of style.

The Ecco sandals that Angie recently recommended did the same thing on me. And normally Eccos fit me perfectly. But this sandal had a heel (no zip in that case, but a heel) and it would not work for me. Too loose.

It might be worth checking with a cobbler anyway, VC. It IS a really nice shoe.

Seems the shoe has an elastic section in the ankle strap. Couldn't a cobbler remove that and attach the strap directly to its opposite leather section? That should narrow the ankle down...

Thanks Suz - I went looking further into reviews, and found that at least one or two people had said the back of the shoes seemed "low" or something, and that others had experienced this slipping at the back. I think most of my other Clark's have been closed booties and the like, so this was a disappointment.

Meanwhile, thank you for the caution that a lot of the shoes with a zip the back do this - this is the first pair I've tried with that detail. I'll have to keep this in mind in terms of future shoe ordering.

I have the same issue with flats ...most don't work. They fall off at the back and the next size down is too small/short.

Sorry to hear about the Geox Wedges. Frustrating, isn't it?

I tried them on, but they flipped off my foot, too.

This OFTEN happens to me with pumps, flats, and any low vamped shoe; I am discovering now that it also can happen with these shoes that zip up the back, or sandals that have a heel.

Tried a GREAT pair of Geox wedges on the other day - from the front they looked fantastic. But they wouldn't stay on.

Sigh.

I liked them otherwise.

I had wanted these for a long time, finally ordered them. Now Clark's shoes *always* fit me and they are always very comfortable.

I got the Thimble Clovers in a stone-grey colour. Just loved them - they felt so soft on my foot.

Thing is, they seem to flip off at the back of the shoe. I can't imagine the next size down fitting me properly. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon with these particular shoes? I'm wondering if I got a pair that had been previously returned or something, and that maybe they were a bit stretched out?

It's too bad, because I *love* the shoes. More than most other shoes. Darnit. I'll have to send these ones back, but still sort of pining away for this pair of shoes.

Is it possible, that like clothing - sometimes you can try on the exact same item in the same size, and it'll fit differently? Could I re-order and hope they might work out? Seems silly, doesn't it? Probably shouldn't do that.
