As beautiful as they are I would not go for them - and mostly because of the re-stocking fee. Shoe fit is a big gamble, so many things can go wrong that it is a huge risk IMO.

Sorry, I am an outlier on this.

Beautiful bottie, but a 25% restocking fee is insane. Especially after you get to pay for shipping back. Shoes all have to be tried on to know fit. While I get they don't want people just to order willy billy, $61 to return a good is insane.

Great business model, though. Stock beautiful hard to fit shoes at huge prices and get 25% of that every time they ship them back.

For me the catch is the restocking fee. That is extremely annoying. On the other hand, I often pay ridiculous shipping fees and that is part of what I have to take into account. If you are willing to risk the return fees in case they don't fit or don't wow you in person as they do on-line, I say go for it.

Thanks for all your input! It's all helpful. I agree that this is something of a calculated impulse purchase, LOL. It does present risk, yet is so tempting. It's so far passing the test of having me return to the link multiple times today to see if I still find them awesome...and I do. I really love the design, most of all. The leopard print is secondary, but I do like that a lot, too. I'm also fascinated to hear that another color would be grounding and make the shoes more versatile? I would have thought that more color would make things less likely to match a wider variety of clothes.

Anyway, will update you on my decision. In any case, I have to be prudent and not jump on purchases for the time being...I let myself go a tiny bit crazy now and then, because in the end I am fairly restrained in my buying habits.

Mochi after reading the responses ....I'm confused lol. Well not completely. I would challenge the restocking fee...what is that? I have never heard of such a thing. Is there anywhere you can go to try them on. I think they are stunning and I unless you are particularly trend driven, you could enjoy wearing these for ages. However this additional fee would completely deter me from ordering on line.

I'm an outlier too - I sold my leopard shoes as I found them very hard to bookend with my hair, plus this color combo was not as neutral for me as I expected. I'm not a huge fan of flat booties either, though I do own a couple of pairs. I find them difficult to style with bottoms. If you are going to be limited for the next several months, I'd find something PERFECT. If these are indeed perfect for you and you have outfits planned around them, then go for it.

These are very cute, but I personally find the inclusion of a third color or even four colors (chestnut and cream for example) make a leopard print more versatile. YMMV.

I, too, worry about the over saturation of animal/leopard prints. I see them in the stores a lot but not in the streets, however. That being said, I am still seeking my perfect (three or four color) leopard booties that are wide and low enough for my fussy feet.

The return and restocking fees on those booties would scare the bejesus out of me. But maybe you have easy to fit feet?

I'm going to be the outlier here and say walk away. Shoes that are investment workhorses need to fit PERFECTLY and that is always difficult to judge until you've actually put them on your feet. That 25% restocking fee (or $61) is, in my opinion, out of line.

My other hesitation would be the animal print. It is so trendy now, but will your eye will still see it as fresh a year or two from now? I know that some people maintain animal prints are a basic, but those prints have so saturated the mass market for the past couple of years, I wonder if they are nearing the end of their fashion cycle.

I'm a big advocate of buying what you love, but infatuation is a lot trickier. Is it the lure of the trend, plus the markdown, that is sending you over the moon?

I think it's worth it to get one really good pair over a few lesser pairs. Personally I would have no problem getting one and not buying any for 6 months or so. I would guess that's pretty much how my shoe shopping goes. I think you know yourself enough to know if that's feasible for you, and it sounds like it is. Just do your research and I hope they fit perfect! I ordered shoes and they were actually able to send me the insole length, which was very helpful, since I was waffling over an 8 or 8.5.

I'm pretty strong, IK, and I am extremely averse to overspending and credit card debt. Have never done anything but pay our monthly statements on time....in fact, my husband teases me for being a cheapskate. So this is like a new world for me--it's a bit scary buying nice things, in fact. I am within control.

I do find it hard to forget one of the scenes in Sex and the City (TV show episode) where Carrie looks at her shoe collection and says something like, "That was my downpayment on an apartment."

Shipping is free, but I would need to pay return shipping, plus a 25% restocking fee. And return within 8 days. It's a tight policy, but I will still consider them. I will need to read some reviews to get a sense of fit, then take a chance.

Yeah, Suz. I have a lot of philosophical musings on fashion and where I'm going that I need to get out when I have the chance to organize them.

Oh, according to this:

http://www.colette.fr/#/eshop/.....-boots/90/

the buckle is made of leather. Suz is right that I should find out the return policy. I'm really on the verge of springing for these. They are so cool.

To add to your and MaryK's very valid questions, I have been thinking more and more that I am really feeling the need to buy quality as opposed to quantity (not saying that it's always an either/or, but let's assume this is what I'm talking about for me).

Apart from necessary basics, I want each thing I buy, at this point, to completely transport and delight me. And I don't need as much as some people, though I completely understand and get the advantages of having a huge palette. I am really thinking investment pieces with fillers of t-shirts, consignment jeans, etc etc. I think these booties would go the distance and not be a one-season item.

Heh. My shoe collection is in fairly good shape, for what I use in my practical life (ie, I have no use for heels or anything formal, I don't need or want pumps, and I'm not even doing bad in the boots department anymore). I wouldn't count athletic, Converse or other very basic shoes out, but as for a fairly pricey shoe (which I consider this to be, for me), this would be it....but I see myself getting tons of wear out of it.

I'll try to think about it. I'm beyond tempted by this now. And seriously, I hope you all see me as someone who is not a mad shoe buyer! Because I'm actually a conservative shopper (though the purse strings have loosened this past month).

I'm also on a weigh-loss program so will be avoiding major clothing purchases for a while.

As in, the last nice shoes I buy for at least 6 months? (ETA I changed this from 8-12 months, because I think that's unnecessary to go that far)

I REALLY have to get offline.

But I think I like these a lot. Are they cool? I don't have a leopard-print bootie/shoe and have wanted one.
