I’ll have to see what else I can come up with. My best costumey accessories are all in a closet at school.</p> <p>Joy, the district is fast tracking solutions. There is a virtual meeting today to discuss the purchase of new devices for all students K-3. &nbsp;It will have a hefty price tag, but the reality is that we may not be returning to school this year. We are officially out through Apr 27th. There needs to be equity in the education these children are able to receive. We are careful not to require much screen time, but in order to maintain relationships and connections, being “visible” is essential.</p> <p>Angie, my students are 6 and 7 years old. &nbsp;I imagine some of them have grown and lost teeth since I last saw them. &nbsp;Gosh, how I miss them, wonder about them and worry about them. And, at least from this parent, I'm not concerned by what the teachers wear on the videos or Zoom calls:). My 8th grader's science teacher usually has on a ball cap and fun turquoise-framed glasses. The orchestra teacher has taken to wearing a different set of headband ears in her videos. What comes across is what's important- how much they miss their students, and truly care about them. I am amazed at how fast so many teachers, who never trained to deliver content this way, have completely changed their teaching styles, assignments and assessments, often in only 3-4 days. We are combining online and offline learning. 2x per day we need to either host live sessions or upload recorded sessions.&nbsp;</p> <div>&nbsp; Sadly the older iPads the K-2 children had are not able to load some of the apps for online learning.....so while that issue is being problem solved by our tech wizards, all sessions need to be recorded.<br />&nbsp; It takes a while to set up for and record each session, so it is more time efficient to record 3 sessions at a time. My students probably don’t care if I have the same top on for read alouds, 3 days in a row. &nbsp;They are more likely to focus on the story. Would their parents even care? I doubt it. I am pretty sure they have bigger concerns on their minds.<br />&nbsp; I care! &nbsp;I have to change my tops between recordings. &nbsp;I just have to! So now, when I plan a recording session, I lay out basic bottoms, usually jeans and 3 different tops. Maybe a blouse, sweater and jersey. Next come the accessories. Scarves, necklaces and jewelry, especially earrings. Same me. Same day.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; Oh and when I finish recording I change out of the last outfit and into my cozy cabin pants, no matter what time it is. &nbsp;I guess this is playing dress up (well, more like dress down) for distance learning!</div></p>
