Hi Tam - I didn't mean you had to read my other thread - in fact I thought you were still overseas when I wrote it. You actually mentioned that your Hush Puppies were called Varsity Russo in your thread 2 months ago! ( I went back and checked).

I presume you can wear then without socks?

Sorry Anne, I didn't read your other thread!!

I don't know what the name of my Hush Puppies are, but yes I did get some. They are similar to the ones on the Hush Puppy website called Sonnet, but the sole is very different. You can see in this side-on shot that the soles of mine are covered with the red leather and flat, not rounded black plastic.

To answer your question, they are indeed very comfy! I easily wear them in a 15hr shift where I am running around the whole day. They didn't need breaking in either. I got these at a similar time to the Me-Toos, and I have to say they aren't quite as comfy as those. To be fair , the Me-Toos are flat, and feel just like slippers, whereas these have a slight heel. For me that is a big move, so anyone used to wearing heels would I'm sure be even more comfortable.

These aren't cheap as chips though, and even with international postage the Me-Toos worked out at pretty much exactly the same price. Just something to consider depending on what style shoe you are after. I love them both!!!

Thanks Monica, Imogen and Tam.

Imogen - I'll be near a Cue and Myer in a couple of months so I'll check that out then (I am usually a big fan of Cue, though their prices are a bit too high for me)

Monica - thanks for going to all that work. It hadn't even occurred to me to look online and some of those Ezibuy ones looked tempting. However I think these items are really ones that I need to try on before buying because sweaterdresses are really about how you fill them out, and because my rather unusually long waist means it is difficult to assess from a picture whether a waistcoat would be long enough for my torso. I am not a 100% certain I'll get either item - they are would - be - nice-to-haves, not must-haves

Imogen, I tried on a waistcoat at target - I'll post pics on a new thread.

Tam - I posted about this on another thread, but in case you didn't read it - you bought the Hush Puppies Varsity Russo, didn't you? Have they proved comfy?

Sorry for the slow reply here Ann. Although I don't really *need* to go shopping for some time now, I will keep an eye out for these things for you should I *happen* to get dragged into a store. Although I would love to find a sweater dress too actually!

Thanks so much both of you - Monica I missed your response somehow - had visitors in the study/spare room and missed a few days internet access. Imogen thanks also.
Have visitors again so can't peruse your suggestions in the detail I intend to give them but will get back to you in a day or 2.
BTW I usually wear a size 8

thanks again

Anne,

I found these waistcoats

http://www.ezibuy.com.au/Women.....42155.shtm

http://www.sportsgirl.com.au, under jackets (a couple of vests)

on ebay:-
http://shop.ebay.com.au/items/.....ec0Q2em359

http://shop.ebay.com.au/items/.....ec0Q2em359

and from an online store on ebay I just love (just bought 4 things from them)
http://search.stores.ebay.com......80QQsofpZ0

and these sweater dresses (although not all are sweater dresses) and yes a lot are in grey, black etc, but sometimes you can get ones in other colours

http://www.ezibuy.com.au/searc.....038;len=12

http://www.sportsgirl.com.au, under knitwear (again colour is the issue here!)

http://www.witchery.com.au/www.....01236.html - these are in light mushroom (brownish colour)

a red one on ebay - new from online store -

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ruby-La.....rms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318 (not sure of your size) but the online store is:- http://stores.ebay.com.au/Steve-grace1

Hi Inge,
There are no H& M in Australia but I think there are Benetton (not near where I live, but 3 hours away where I visit sometimes)
Thanks!

I'm not Australian, of course, but I was wondering if there is an H&M or a Benetton where you live. At the moment, both have the 'longer' waistcoats you are looking for.

I hope you find one soon. Good luck!

In your looking around shops, have you come across
1) "sweater" dresses in any colour apart from grey, black or beige
2) a waistcoat that isn't completely shrunken so that it only covers the ribcage but is more the length Angie is wearing in her accessory post
