I just ordered the blue Marks booties from piperlime. They are an extra 20% off right now so they came out to $40, and they have lots of colors and sizes to choose from.

Thanks everyone for your input!

The black is definitely the dressiest of the bunch since the heel is a matching color. I have the taupe and had also ordered the red, and the materials were NOT the same. The taupe is like a sueded leather, and the red was actually suede. I don't know how the black compares. Very comfy as others have said, though I can wear fairly tall heels.

No, they probably wouldn't work then. One of my feet has become significantly flatter than the other in recent years, and the flatter foot doesn't love my Earthies Cristiana's (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ea.....ie/3185811) as much as the foot with the higher arch does, but I've been able to gradually break them in enough that it's not a problem anymore. Not recommended for truly flat feet.

Quick story: My 10-year-old daughter now wears the same shoe size as me but has completely flat feet. She loves to walk around the house in my heels. (My heeled shoes probably get more wear from her than from me, since I can rarely wear them!) But when she put on my Earthies she said, "How could anybody walk around in these lumpy shoes? They feel like there's a little speed bump across the middle of the insoles!"

Ooh, Chrizzle, those earthies are pretty! They read as a little dressier than the marks, so perhaps I will keep an eye on them for the potential dressy boot slot. I've read that Earthies tend to be best for high arches, so my flat feet probably won't like them for all day though.

Yes, I love that front cutout on the Report Marks too. I know the Jamisons were not the style you're looking for. I mentioned them because they have the right comfort level for me, so I've been looking for something similar in heel height and structure, but with a dressier look, and I thought the Marks might work.

I also tried the Earthies Halle bootie and I loved the way the V-front flattered my ankles and calves, and the platform gave me the cushioning I need at the ball of my foot but they were too narrow, and had a little too much (!) arch support for me.

Thanks for reporting back, Cathy! Sounds like everyone finds these very comfy.

Chrizzle, I thought about the Jamisons too (and they do come in my favorite color, teal) but the thing that I love most about the reports is that cutout front which the Jamisons do not have.

I've had the same questions about those booties, Diana, so I'm glad you asked. I can't wear shoes that put too much pressure on the balls of my feet either, plus I have a bad right ankle, so I have to keep the heel-to-toe slope at no more than 2 inches, 2.5 tops if the shoes are structured really well.

I've found my Dolce Vita Jamison booties very comfortable now that I have the right kind of insert to add cushioning and support where I need it. They're great for my business casual office and MOTG personal life. But the natural stacked heel makes them casual, so I want something similar that looks nicer for date nights or when I just feel like upping my game a bit.

Quick report from the trenches - wearing them at work today and boy are they comfy! I also measured them and got the same result that Tanya did.

Heightwise, they feel abit taller than my Doc Marcies.although I think the Marcies are actually higher but with a small platform. If they were about .25"-.5" shorter they could be all day trekking boots for me, but I'm not much of a heel wearer :)

I think picking up a blue pair on sale is a great ida and investing in a more dressy pai later.

Thanks, Cathy and Rae!

Cathy, I think you are right that these are probably not as dressy as sleek leather boots. Maybe they'll come out with them in patent... hey, a girl can dream, right? I actually do already have 3-inch-heel black casual booties, although those have a platform and are chunkier in general, and I don't think the black Marks booties would be significantly different enough to justify. I am still seriously considering the blue though! I think I am going to wait a couple of days and see if any online shops have a fourth of july sale code...

Rae, if you wore them all around Italy, that's a glowing recommendation! I know how much walking one does on those European city trips.

I trekked all around Italy in them... supportive for me, and they did not put any pressure on the balls of my feet. Mine feet are more fussy with flats, though.

I haven't had a chance to wear mine for any great amount of time, but they do seem really comfy! I don't like to go over 3" (unless it's a platform) but I find these really comfortable heightwise. Also, the suede on mine is kind of smooth too -- I like it :)

The black heel does make them more dressy than a natural heel, I think. But not sure what level of dressiness you are looking for -- they're definitely not a sleek leather dress bootie for sure. I do think they would go really well with your style though Diana!

Thanks, Tanya! Sounds like the heel height is just around the limit of what I can comfortably wear without ball of foot pain so it could go either way. (Although to be honest the Frye Carsons, which have like a 1 inch heel, give me horrid ball of foot pain so it could be more about the shape than the height, although I am sure height plays a role too).

Glad to hear that they are not super-suedey too - they look pretty smooth in most of the photos online as well so I'm glad to get confirmation of that. It will probably wear better as well.

So, I have those booties in taupe. I haven't worn them out yet, as I got them in May and the weather has been too warm for any kind of booties here. But from walking around the apartment they seemed very comfy. Of course, I do not know how they will feel after a couple of hours of wear.

Like a proper scientist, I took out the tape measure to measure their heel height The heel is angled, from the highest point (back of the foot) it is 3" to the floor, while from the lowest (on the foot) there is 2.25".

They are suede, but mine are almost smooth, without the usual suede texture. Don't know if all the colors look like that though.

OK, so seeing all of you with your fab Report Marks booties (Cathy being the latest) really makes me want to try a pair. I love the cutout front shape and haven't seen many other affordable booties with that shape. The thing that's been holding me back is that the heel is bordering on too high for me. Some sites say 2.5" and others say 3", and these days even 2.5 might be too high for me for 8 hour shoes. But all of you (and most online reviews) say that they're really comfortable for the height. Do any of you who own them generally wear lower heels and still feel like these are comfy/walkable?

On the other hand, I am also looking for a pair of somewhat dressier black heeled booties - for wearing under trousers and with dresses/skirts. This doesn't need to be 8-hour shoes, maybe 4-hours would be fine. Not super fancy outfits, but more like nice dinner out, symphony, that kind of thing. The Marks are suede so I thought they wouldn't work for this purpose, but Cathy's black ones she just posted look quite sleek, and the heels are black which I hadn't realized (this looks dressier to me). What is the finish on the suede like? Do you think the black ones could function as dressier boots or am I deluding myself?

ETA: If they are for every day, I'd probably get the blue ones, but if they are for dressier purposes, I'd get black.
