I don't have an answer really, but I'm so jealous of Taylor! OMG, the only person you could have met that I'd be more jealous of would be Gene Kelly. Man, why don't they make men like that now?

Famous person: I met Prince Charles ages ago and was shocked. Always just thought he was funny lookin' but in person he was crazy charming - not in a slimy way but really listening to what people were saying, engaging, etc - and his clothes were GORGEOUS and he wore them really well. Ever since then, I pay more attention to what he wears when I see him in the media and notice he really pulls himself together (or, his personal tailors, stylists, whoever, pull him together) incredibly well but in a way that's not at all flashy, so it can be easy to miss for someone like me who doesn't usually pay attention. I still don't think he's good looking, but his charm and style did wonders at making him less hideously unattractive than I'd always considered him.

Regular person: A girl I went to high school with, more than 20 years ago. She was horrid, but incredibly beautiful. And all her clothes fit her impeccably and were attractive but never tarty. I read that she's an interior designer now; doesn't surprise me since she clearly had a wonderful eye.

Taylor! Wow! I'm envy..
Angie! I was a big fan of Duran Duran many years ago!
well, My daughter goes to a private school and you just can't imagine how the other mothers dress! They are all executive women. There is one in particular I admire each morning! Never saw so much style together! The heels, the bags, skirts, dresses, hair, make-up, everything is perfect!

I was standing right next to Cary Grant in a Jc Penny in So Cal.
I was buying some cosmetics when he strolled up next to me with his daughter and governess (whom I think he married) His daughter was apparently attending a costume party and he was looking for a particular make-up...they did not have it but I remember standing in AWE totally starstruck by his distinct voice and his genuinely gorgeous good looks...SO handsome, I mean beyond belief!!!! and he was wearing suit as well, just ooozing class ansd style...His daughter was about 12 and an absolutely beautiful child..the only possible outcome of Mr. Grant and a young and beautiful Diane Cannon...yep in love ever since:)

Frances, I love your answer! I too would be trying to recapture that girl's look. She sounds like she would be stylish even today.

Taylor and Laura, you two are cheatin' with your real-life brushes with famous people. But they are charismatic, gorgeous, timelessly stylish people, so you're forgiven. :)

cciele, I haven't met Angie yet so she can't be my answer, but she's a fabulous choice!

For me, it was my childhood best friend, Mary. Mary lived down the street from me, and is to this day the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life close-up. She had thick dark hair, not curly but the kind that you could style any way you wanted, stunning blue eyes, and a smile and bone structure that was just unbelievable, even at eight years old. I always felt invisible next to her because people could not help but stare at her where ever we were. I didn't mind because I just couldn't believe this gorgeous creature was my friend.

Mary was always so trendy and stylish too, and when we hit our pre-teen and teenage years she got even more so. She was usually about 6 months ahead of a trend; I remember her wearing piles of black rubber bracelets long before Madonna had her hit video with Borderline. Then she was at Catholic high school and managed to make those uniforms intriguing on her -- and again, this was years before Britney or anyone. She did punk/goth, and preppy, and everything, with this uncanny ability to still keep her stunning looks and yet be so cutting-edge.

I re-found her on Facebook recently, and she is still as beautiful now as she was then. And just as stylish and ahead of the curve. I wish she posted more!

Cathy, I'm speechless. THANK YOU. Coming from such a stylish lass yourself, your words made my heart sing.

Laura and Taylor, that's fabulous!

I guess I'll make mine 5 blokes who I have seen in concert three times over the past 20 years and will continue to see over and over again. I saw Duran Duran most recently about 2 years ago and these blokes were so stylish it kills me. For that concert they were wearing black and white suits and had punk hair styles. So, so, so, so hip and cool - and effortless. I'm also mesmerized by the whole rock star thing so that plays a role too :0)

Yes Kristen, what about you??

Frances, I love your answer. What is it about certain people? Are they born that way?

And Taylor, I am swooning along with you! Where did you see Cary Grant?

King Hussein also had that certain je ne sais quoi. I suppose it was charisma.

That would have to be one of my best friends from high school, Ingrid. Ingrid moved to our small rural New England town from New Haven, and she brought this impeccably chic, classic French Parisienne style with her. This was in the mid-80s, when acid-washed jeans and permed hair with the poofy crown (think Elaine from Seinfeld in the early years) dominated our town. But Ingrid defied all that with her self-assured presence, and she opened my eyes to a whole new level of sophistication. Of course, she had the advantage of being naturally gorgeous, tall and thin, but it was her style that stood out. Somehow, on a high school girl's shoestring budget, she made classic trenchcoats, Jean Seburg tops, and silk scarves in vivid colors materialize. As the school newspaper photographer, you would most often see her with her Nikon camera hanging around her neck. She could even make a bright tangerine cardigan with holes in the sleeve or a battered pair of Jack Purcell knock-offs from JC Penney look amazingly chic. Do you know that some 20 years later, I am still trying to emulate that girl? She simply had that certain je ne sais quoi.

Laura's answer: King Hussein of Jordan. Saw him at a hotel in the Middle East.

That would be Angie, heh! And you all know why. Angie wears her clothes well, knows her body and style, and has a great sense of color and proportion. And she mixes up high and lower-end brands with ease.

Honestly, no one else really stands out. There are some stylish people around here, but there's always something off about their outfits (pants not the right length, too many logos, etc.).

(so is my answer a cop out?)
