My experience (also with the red one) is similar to Tania's.

I have the dark red one with the toffee inner, and you cannot see the inner fibers on the outside at all.

The sweater was a workhorse too. I found that the sweater pilled into balls in areas of higher friction, and there is some fuzziness in areas that are difficult to remove. I tend to brush it after every wear to extend its life.

Hmmmm. Maybe this isn't turning out to be as good a find as I'd hoped! ;)

The sweater does look a bit lighter from further away. I think I'm going to put a bit more time into shaving it, and see how that improves the overall effect.

It definitely doesn't seem pilled to me (I think of pilling as fuzz actually forming little balls, which this has not done.) It does seem a bit fuzzy though. I think I'm going to put a bit more time into shaving it, and see how that improves the overall effect.

It's soooo soft and I love the shape. I'd hate to relegate it at home only because of this!

Congrats on a great thrift store find!

I see can you mean about the light fibers showing through. Very odd. From a distance, does it make the overall sweater color appear lighter?

I have this sweater in the navy/green color way. Navy on the outside, dark green inside. I have not had any problems with the green showing through. Maybe because they are lower contrast colors the effect would be less noticeable?

Hmm. Interesting. This does look as if the inside threads are showing through somewhat, or as if it has pilled (even though you say it isn't pilled). Some variation of colour is normal in a heathered item, though. And this looks like it is supposed to be a heathered charcoal.

I can't find the exact one, as it looks like it was discontinued. I believe it is the same style as the rust red one, except it is black and charcoal.

It's 100% merino, double knit, black with charcoal grey on the inside. I think it is this one, but not this colour:

https://www.jcrew.com/ca/women...../B1902.jsp

Here's a close up of the actual sweater (which I should have just included in the first place!)

Hi all,

I found a black J. Crew double knit cardigan from last season in my size at the thrift store this weekend. (SCORE.) I know many people on the forum bought this sweater last year, and I have a question about the knit: can you see the fibers from the inside colour on the outside at all?

I thought this sweater was really linty, but after hand washing, drying flat, and then thoroughly de-linting with a velvet brush and a stick brush, I can still see lighter coloured fibers up close (from more than 2 feet away it is not noticeable.)

The sweater is in great condition, and is not at all pilled. I tried shaving small sections, and the effect of the lighter coloured fibers is still there, but lessened. I'm wondering if what I'm perceiving as lint is actually the charcoal grey fibers from the inside of the sweater. Now I'm wondering if it an intentional effect that I've been trying to remove in vain.

Thanks!
