Thanks ladies! I'm going to place an order for the studs today (in both black and silver). Once they come in, I can do some mockups on the fabric and post again.

@Merwoman: Studs would look cool around the sleeves or hem. Ooh, how about a block of antique gold studs on the sleeve cuffs of the red dress?

@Shiny: I am leaning towards studding the black dress as well.

@Day: The bell shaped sleeves are a little dramatic aren't they? I found them very impractical so I took the dresses in to get the sleeves narrowed.

@Aida: I was leaning towards the collar/shoulder studs so I could get the look that is currently in stores without buying something. I need to think about whether I'm ready for a statement. Either way, thank you for inspiring me!

Yay I was just going to PM you and ask about this ^^

#1, #3, and #4 look best to me; for some reason I'm not feeling the red tunic with the studs unless it's more heavily studded (and then I'd prefer the shoulder). #3 would be the most unique option, there's nothing really like that in the stores. The collar/shoulder ones are quite on trend, but you do see those in the stores. #3 makes the biggest statement, and #1/#4 are a good subtle nod.

Numbers 4 and 5 look best to me. I think its wonderful that you are changing these dresses to make them what you want.

I am a big fan of military styling so while I initially loved the black dress with the studs around the neckline I REALLY LOVE the studs on the shoulders. With the red dress for some reason the studs seem to work better around the neckline.

I would not put studs down the shoulders and sleeves I fear you would end up look over done in a Vegas kind of way. The sleeves look bell shaped which is already a design feature I think studs there would just compete.

Cute idea! Tough choice. I'm going to say 3! I like the look with a black dress better than red, for some odd reason.

So cool! I like the studs all around the neckline - and I think the size that is shown which is probably 1/2" works best for this location. Am wondering what they would look like around the sleeve hem (wrist) or dress hem - maybe a smaller size would work better for the hems? I wouldn't put both neckline and hem studs on at the same time - but there are so many wonderful possibilities. Great idea!

I recently got the sleeves narrowed on these red and black tunic-y dresses (these photos still show the sleeves as wide) but I thought either one might be a little more fun to wear if I added some studs.

I'm looking at adding 1/2 inch pyramid studs in either black or silver but I could go down to 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch if people think that would be better.

Options:

1) Black Dress: Silver studs on collar only, going around to back

2) Black Dress: Silver studs on whole neckline, going around to back

3) Black Dress: Black studs on shoulders and going down sleeves

4) Black Dress. Silver studs on shoulders only.

5) Red Dress. Silver studs on whole neckline, going around to back

6) Red Dress. Silver studs on shoulders only.

Which option do you like best? Feel free to suggest a new dress color/ornamentation scheme/stud color/stud size. :)

Thanks in advance!
