I am not overly impressed with New Look, just too basic IMO. Have you time to run up a muslin/toile/calico? It is the best thing to do, then you won't run the risk of ruining your final piece. I would cut the muslin to the size you judge to be right for you from the measurements; the "size" itself can be completely misleading. For the muslin, you can use an old sheet, for example, or something similar to the fabric you will use for the Real Thing. Good luck.

I never use patterns, but I have heard that pattern sizes are not the same as store sizes. Go with your measurements - and if you don't fall perfectly into the ranges, you can alter the pattern to suit.

I'm not an expert, but won't you be able to try on before you actually make a final cut or hem on the skirt? I am sure there are others who will advise.

I just bought a simple A-line skirt pattern with pockets, "New Look" brand. Has anyone used these patterns? I'm wondering if the measurements given for the sizes are accurate. My pattern has size 10 (with a 25" waist) to size 22 (with a 37" waist). Any experience would be appreciated! Thanks, all.
