Google Analytics is free, but you have to put in a little tiny bit of code in the bottom of your page to get it to go. Wordpress has a plugin that does it for you, and probably Blogger and the other major blog-hosting places do too. I did mine manually and it wasn't much more trouble than a bit of cut-and-paste of text.

Natalie, I know nothing about blogging, but I LOVE your site. You ALWAYS look so wonderful and happy. Your hair is amazing and I adore all the different ways you wear it. And your accessorizing is aspirational to me.

How could ANYONE go to your site and NOT love it ??? Especially with Thelma as an accessory.

Thank you for putting yourself out there and sharing your life with someone like me.

Mine's on Wordpress, and I have a stat counter that gives me 'referrers' and search engine terms numbers, but they're always much lower than the actual views each day, so I'm not sure how I account for the rest of the views.

I installed Sitemeter on it a while back, but I guess Wordpress won't share referrals with them, so it's not that helpful. :(

Thanks for the link, Steph. Statcounter seems more comprehensive than the one I've been using.

Stringy, is Google Analytics a service you pay for?

I use Google Analytics, it tells me if people are coming from a link somewhere else, or if they've found me via a search engine.

You should put a stattracker on your blog. When I blogged I used this: http://statcounter.com/. It's free, and it gives you all sorts of interesting stats, including how people found your page (if through a web search, they show you the searches that were done, if they came to it from another site, they give you that information). I always found it fascinating.

For those of you who have blogs, how do you know where your visitors are coming from? Not just where they're located, but how they actually discovered your blog?

Every once in a while I'll have a day where I get twice as many visitors as usual, sometimes even when I haven't posted that day, and I'm a little curious as to how they stumbled upon me.

(Okay, honestly, when that happens I'm always a little worried that maybe somebody out there posted a link about how silly or awful I looked on a certain day, or something mean like that, but I guess that's the risk you take by posting photos of yourself online, right?)
