I am a bit late finding this but I too am a boy shorts wearer. The best ones I have found are silk shorties from a company here in the UK called Charlotte and Co but they seem to have stopped doing them so I am looking for alternatives. They are a little longer in the leg and come up quite high on the waist but they are so comfortable and I am fairly curvy. Because they are longer in the leg they don't ride up. Silk is obviously a bit more expensive but they wash well.

I had to chime in as another boy short lover. I wear them exclusively. I actually love the Victorial Secret knock-offs, unlike Angie. I find them extremely comfortable and they are also quite durable.

And the price can't be beat.

I really like the boy shorts from Uniqlo and Bjorn Borg, which are shaped almost like trunks. They seem to fit my bum quite well. I've found they're less likely to creep if I size down rather than up and I'm less comfortable in a larger size. I think the secret is a snug fit and a good stretch, so I look for cotton with a high elastane content.

Wow, thank you so much for all your insights! So it sounds like there's no sure-fire fix for this. A product that functions perfectly for one woman gets tossed in the garbage by another. I guess I have to keep experimenting. But it's good to see that I'm not the only one who struggles with this. I'll see if I can get my hands on a pair of those Nordstrom Shimera ones, once we get our Nordstrom up here.

For the record, I think boyshorts LOOK great -- if I'm standing still.

I too love boyshorts, and the best pair I have are from Aerie! They are a little longer, which is why I think they don't ride up. You need to get full cheek coverage to avoid the ride-up I also find Victoria Secret briefs with lace around the edge tend not to show VPL ... the lace seems to sit flatter than a hem does, if that makes sense. I will have to check out the Jockey ones!

E, it takes a while to find comfy pairs for sure. And some boy shorts styles feel awful on the crotch point.

I am Queen Boy Shorts. I only wear boy shorts and nothing else (although I do have a very brief set of bikinis to match a stunnung blush bra, but they aren't nearly as comfy as my boy shorts).

I LOVE the way boyshorts look and so does hubs. (I'm a sucker for retro undies). These are my BEST.

Victoria Secret has a knock off pair for a quarter of the price but I don't find them nearly as comfy as these styles.

I am very vain about my underwear. It must match, fit well and look extremely pretty. I will pay the price to secure my vanity.

Oh, I like the Hanky Panky Vikini too. Sometimes my issue with underwear (and swimsuits) is that I need to size up so the leg openings don't pinch -- but then often the rear is cut too large for my non-booty, and I get a case of baggy butt. Which, in turn, also often leads to underwear riding up.

I'm with Suz, Gaulene and Stlylefan. It's Jockey No Panty Line high cuts or bikinis for me. I 've not met a pair of boyshorts that didn't ride in some way. Jockeys do sometomes show a little VPL but it's not like I want anyone to think I 'm NOT wearing underwear!

I've had good luck with the GAP boyshorts - all cotton and no rolling - but I'm most comfortable a size up. I don't think they are worth full price though so I wait for their inevitable sales. For some reason, I have trouble with their lace trimmed ones.

The Eberjeys look very nice. Similar in a way to my Hanky Pankys although I am not a boy short panty wearer, I wear the Vikini Bikini, not the thong. I used to wear the Jockeys but the Hanky Pankys fit my flat bum better. Two of my 3 swim suits, which are all bikinis have boy shorts like the Eberjeys.

I think underpinnings are really an individual thing, like shoes and bras--one person's "these are the greatest" can be another person's "horrible fit".

I like the idea of boyshorts but not the realiity even though they should theoretically be great for my narrow hips and thighs, straightish shape. Those Shimeras, which I tried in three sizes no less, were all tossed in the garbage after a couple of wearings. They crawled and rolled endlessly until I might as well have worn a thong. Same thing for the Commandos which I tried in two sizes. The Soma boy shorts with the silicone grips stayed put with hardly any VPL, but felt weird on my skin and latched on to my foot every time I tried to put them on, almost dumping me on the floor in the process. I finally admitted defeat and went back to my Jockeys.

Those Shimera ones are the ones that Angie likes -- but they come up too far in front and back for me (unless I am wearing high waisted jeans) and they do roll up on me, too, though much less so than other brands have.

And, what Gaylene and Style Fan said about the Jockeys. They show a tiny bit under workout wear but not under anything else, really.

Add my name to the list of people that can not wear boyshorts. Actually I can only wear thongs for a very short period of time when absolutely necessary. Like Suz I wear Jockeys No Visible Panty Line Bikinis. There is a line. However, they fit and I do not wear anything except Yoga gear that shows VPL. My Yoga pants are one size up so it is not that obvious.

Add me to those who have never found a pair of boyshorts that didn't ride up. Maybe because I have a high hip to waist ratio? Anyway, for clothes where VPL might be an issue I wear these.

I'll be watching this thread with interest since I am sold on boyshorts being the way to go yet completely frustrated finding a pair that are made like I want them to fit and feel.

Many years ago I bought several pairs of under armour boy shorts in nude and grey and began wearing them under everything (not just for working out). I loved 1) the lack of VPL and 2) that they seem to hold me in just enough though not feel at all constricting like a control top-type panty.

Well, shortly after that, under armour redesigned their boyshort and the cut was a much lower rise in front and especially the back *and* they shortened the leg. Now, it looks like UA is out of the boy short business completely.

Over the years now I have tried and tried to find a boyshort that fits well without the roll-up, that is breathable, and in nude or gray that doesn't show under regular clothing. I've looked at regular underwear makers and active & outdoor wear brands. At one point I think I ordered 5-8 different types to try determined to find some that would suit. I settled for Champion brand but they aren't quite as good as the UA's were. I've also worn Road Runner boyshorts. I have one pair of Nordstrom's Shimra (?) brand (cut a bit small).

In general I always have to size up in boyshorts. I normally wear a size 4/6 pant and have the Champion boy shorts in size L.

I have also started wearing the Soma hipster vanishing edge pantie (in nude) especially when wearing white jeans. I like them OK but I want a really good boyshort which doesn't seem to exist!

My staples are the no-show, modal Jockey ones Suz mentions. The cotton gusset seems to avoid any problems, at least in my experience. I can't see cotton on my butt and hips offering any particular advantage with regards to that issue. :)

The Jockeys do show a bit of a line under workout wear, but that doesn't fuss me. Under my "normal" clothes, they are invisible--and they stay put so I'm never conscious of my knickers. I have a couple of pairs of Hanky Panky thongs as an alternate if my regular Jockeys don't work, but I rarely wear them.

Can I just add that I think a BIT of VPL and nipple showthrough isn't the end of the world? I'm not talking glaringly obvious here, but the kind of reveal that would require a closeup, focused gaze at my butt or chest. I'm more inclined to slap that person to teach him/her some manners than to change my undies.

I've worn Eberjey's Delirious French Brief for years and love them. No wedge factor, very comfortable, TTS, no VPL. The lace only appears delicate, they've lasted longer (in regular wash cycle using lingerie bags, hang to dry) than my cotton and cotton blend versions by a long shot.

I have definite health issues with tight, synthetic underwear. Even cotton with lots of stretch - I think it's the tightness rather than just the synthetics. Just mentioning this to confirm that it's a real concern for some people.

I don't like boyshorts as much as bikini or hipster cut. But one way I avoid the roll-up problem with boyshorts is to always pull up my underwear and jeans at the same time. If I pull jeans up after my underwear, the bottom of the shorts gets caught and bunches up. Maybe that's obvious but I only discovered this a few weeks ago! ;-)

Looser, less stretchy underpants also don't have as bad VPL, though they do feel bulky under some pants.

Commando boyshorts. They make them in a cotton blend but I like the microfiber version, the laser cut edge helps with VPL too. I don't have any crawling problems with them and no gynecological problems either. Maybe the breathability of synthetics has improved dramatically?

Boy shorts do that on me, too. The ones that Angie likes are the best I have tried, but they still do it to some extent, and they are also high in the rise (on me) so come up too high in the front and back for some of my jeans.

I can't stand thongs. Ugh. I have never felt comfortable in them.

Like Janet, I go for a higher rise bikini and put up with some VPL as a rule. Better that, than discomfort.

The best undies I have found are actually cheap Jockeys. Not the cotton ones, alas, but these have a cotton gusset and I think they call them no -show or something. They work better than any others I've tried and come in a couple of different cuts. One is a sort of modified boy short that is not really a "short" but more of a square cut brief (does that make any sense at all? It is shorter than a short). These actually work pretty well on me.

Janet, I really like the looks of the ones you've linked. Panties and underwear in general are the bane of my existence. Boyshorts look cute but I cannot figure out how they don't add extra bulk (or at least the feeling of bulk ) around the thighs. The one time I tried them , I felt like I was wearing workout shorts under whatever I was wearing. Not doing that again. I am confused by sizing of panties as it seems to have nothing to do with one's overall clothing size. I am so hesitant to try other styles (I only wear thongs at the moment) because I've spent too much money trying bikinis, full briefs, etc etc and getting them home and not being able to wear them. Do all of you try panties on in the store? How do you even do that? Yes, I am a little backward in underwear buying knowledge. Help!

I buy one size larger than my normal size. That seems to solve the problem you mentioned.

I think boyshorts look adorable on other women, but awful on me, but I did try some underwear like that -- once. It was pretty uncomfortable, fit-wise, but I chalked it up to my relative lack of booty and excess of saddlbags. But it sounds like it's a problem even for other women too. For many reasons -- flattery and comfort -- I much prefer a nice bikini cut with sufficient cheek coverage and a slightly high leg opening. This Vanity Fair style is pretty much perfection on me -- they've been making them for years, and if they ever discontinue them, I'll probably cry.

http://www.barenecessities.com.....38;search=

Natori makes a nice bikini cut that is a little more VPL friendly. But frankly, these days, I don't wear too many things that make VPL an issue.

I have the same problem with boyshorts and always thought it is because my thighs are too fleshy. I will be watching this post with vested interest!
