Scarlet - my New Year's Resolution is to make smarter purchases and I think these Aquatalias will be a smart purchase for me because they are so comfortable. I had foot surgery last year and most of my shoes are only good for an hour or two. I only have a few pairs that I can wear all day. I've been wearing these around the house and they are heavenly...so comfy. I hope mine wear as well as yours have.

Mine aren't suede, but I haven't touched them up yet in the three years that I have had them and they still look super. I wear them specifically in bad weather. I got them on sale because it was the only way they were in my budget, but they have been so good. Honestly I should probably buy fewer shoes overall and more Aquatalias because the quality is so good. Hopefully that continues to be true.

Michelle & Janet Thanks for your input. Michelle, you verbalized well my overall impression of Aquatalia.. made to withstand harsh conditions. The only time I may encounter salt is when traveling. And Janet, it's good to know that they can withstand salt without ill effects.

I'm out the door now to make those babies mine!!!

I did just wear mine in a bunch of salt last week (Baltimore heaps the salt on!), and I see no ill effects on the boots at all.

I do believe that Acquitalia boots are specifically designed to withstand harsh winter conditions, and that includes their suede offerings. I understand they are legitimately waterproof, though additional protection couldn't possibly hurt. The main thing I would be leary of if they were mine would be rock salt in icy weather. Not sure if that's a concern in your neck of the woods. As others have said, though, regular cleaning and maintenance will help offset any risk factors. These boots are built (and priced) to last. May as well actually wear and enjoy them.

gryffin - I completely understand not wearing them in bad weather. Fortunately, here in the Houston area, rain is the most I would be dealing with. I will check with my shoe guy...I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks!

Janet - Good to know that waterproofing spray works. Sound like the suede has held up really well. Thanks!

I've used waterproofing spray on mine, and they're doing fine. Mine are suede but they are much sportier/foul weather looking than these. I think Aquatalias are made for this kind of wear -- I even wonder if they treat the suede themselves.

Jay S - I have the aquatalia undy boot which are leather and I love them. I do not wear these boots, no matter what they say, in really bad weather...too expensive. That being said, they are holding up magnificently. I do not have the suede but I can't see the harm of waterproofing spray if your test site is okay. I do have suede booties and as long as I am picking about the weather they've held up fine. A good suede brush, very lightly used, is helpful. Also do you have a shoe repair guy to ask? They'd probably have strong opinions from experience. Gorgeous booties, enjoy!!

Since Aquatalia boots are well regarded on the forum, I tried on the Roma bootie yesterday at Nordstrom. Long story short - they're the most comfortable booties I've ever tried on. However, I'm concerned about wear since they are suede. They are listed as waterproof. Should I still use a waterproofing spray? I'm also concerned about wear on the suede since I intend to wear them with trousers and the fabric will rub the suede. Should I hold out to find some that are leather? These will be the most expensive footwear I've ever purchased so I want to be sure they'll last. Thanks in advance!
