I hand wash in cold water and air dry. I have had them for two years and haven't noticed any ill effects. I would wash them as little as possible though, and in fact encourage you to spot clean if possible. I read an article about the Levis denim guru and he washes his jeans in the bathtub, too high maintenance for me.
