Wow this thread is depressing. 5 months later and I am in the exact same "if-I-get-this-job-but-probably-won't" situation.

I replied to your other thread Elpgal.

Oh, I didn't mean to knock stretching or doctoring footwear. I'm sure it works wonders for most people. I'm just very exceptional in this regard. You were lucky to see my feet when they were in good condition Angie. At the moment I've got bruises on the side and scabs on the heel from where my shoes cut in. It's ghastly to look at! Thank god it's finally warm enough for my beloved Brulees.

Jean, I think what you would need is a vamp stretcher.

http://www.feetfeelgood.com/Me.....er-Reg.jpg

It probably isn't worth buying one unless this is a common problem, but I bet Nordies could do it for you. Alternately, you could just get a regular shoe stretcher and use those little pressure plugs wherever the shoe is tight.

Maya, I hear you and you know your feet – most of the time :0).

Greenglove, ordinarily I would have said move on too. But in some cases, it’s worth experimenting if you have fussy feet. In your case I would have tried another half a size up from what you ordered (feet swell up at different times of the day). AND I would keep a shoe stretching kit handy. Sometimes it’s a question of doctoring a little area on the shoe in order for it to fit comfortably. Maya may not have had luck with this strategy, but plenty of my clients do which means that you *might* too. I am always, always, always doctoring shoes!

That is disappointing! I agree it just isn't worth it to take a chance with shoes though. Every time I do that I end up being disappointed. My problem area is around my little toe, especially on my right foot. Once my boots come off, that side of my foot is black and blue for the rest of the warm season (sometimes red--I have had shoes that were bad enough to make me bleed!). I would have to wear a size 7.5 or 8 (1.5 and 2 sizes bigger than my actual shoe length) to accommodate the width when it comes to flats and pumps, which aside from looking completely odd, throws off the proportion in too many other ways. Stretching hasn't helped much either, as no size 6 shoe is ever going to be able to stretch up to a size 8! I adore flats and they are my favorite type of footwear in terms of appearance and versatility, but I'm ready to move on.

Maya,
I bought the Nadias. I have wide feet and went up half a size. I thought they were perfect, they fit that way in the store. I brought them home, wore them around a bit and noticed that there was not enough space from the bottom of the shoe to my toe box, in other words my big toe was being squashed from the top, not the width. I did not want to take a chance on them, they might have stretched but if a shoe is not comfortable right away, I move on.
I wonder if anyone else had this experience, i was so disappointed because they were super comfortable in every other way!

I'm not buying or even trying any more flats unless I can go up at least one size. I was wondering if the elastic on these would make it possible but I guess it isn't scrunched enough.

I am not sure when I'll find out officially about the job. If I get this one there will be no need to look in Boston.

I'd stick to going up half a size, Maya. They are stretchy around the toe box because of the ruching. But I have clients that didn’t need to go up a size at all. I guess they like a tight shoe whereas I don’t. I have been putting them through their paces all week. Magnificent. I hope they work for you too.

When will you know about your potential job opportunity? Are you still looking in Boston?

Angie, you mentioned that you had to go up half a size in these. Would going up a full size be too much (considering I have a wide forefoot)? I was thinking/hoping maybe the elasticized collar will keep them from falling off in the back, while still giving enough room in the forefoot.
