Yes, Big Buddha bags are made of faux leather. Big Buddha Handbags are fashionable handbags made in an eco-friendly manner. Their "leather" bags are vegan friendly and all fabric bags are organically made. Since buying green friendly products has been all the rage lately, it's no surprise that Big Buddha Handbags have been growing in popularity. These bags are cute, fun, and miles away from the burlap bag which has previously been the sole style for eco-friendly handbags. Most would have no idea that Big Buddha bags were eco-friendly. Their material is sustainable and durable, their design is fresh, and they feel luxurious. If you are looking for more ideas and see the line of these vegan designer bags, you can check out http://www.complementyourstyle.com.

Hope this helps. =)

Steph- I am not familiar with this company, so I just went to their website and looked around. All of the bags that I looked were were made of "faux leather" or "faux suede". I didn't see anything other than the statement on the front page about being eco-friendly. It's kind of difficult to be both animal friendly and eco-friendly in a leather based business, but you could always email customer service and ask what they mean.

I assumed they were animal friendly because they are not made from leather? Every description seems to be faux leather.

Can't speak to the eco-friendly aspect. Odd they don't really tout either on the Website.

I do loooove the Mia floral handbag Angie posted - especially as I'll never own the original!

Angie blog post from this weekend reminded me of a question I have had for awhile. I have seen Big Buddha bags described as eco-friendly and animal-friendly in a number of places. However, I can't seem to find any confirmation about that from the manufacturer. On their website they do say the bags are eco-friendly, but they don't explain in what way (usually companies expound on that). I have also never seen them describe their bags as animal-friendly. I have only ever seen this statement made on blogs, but again, it's always just a bare statement.

Does anyone know what materials they use to make their bags? Has anyone else been able to find some statement from the company explaining how they are animal- or eco-friendly? Or even an article that explains this at all? I don't buy leather, suede, or animal hides, so Big Buddha appeals to me, but since they never state they are animal-friendly anywhere on their site, I'm wary.
