Oh well - sounds like their shipping policies have made the decision for me, and that it's a good thing too! Thanks everyone for the input, I still am very grateful for the YLF expertise

OK, so it looks like this is a no-go for you anyway.

I was going to add, FWIW, that I prefer the Gap tees that are very thin. The "favorite" ones are a thicker knit and in my experience stretch out quite a bit. I think the ones I have are more similar to this one, described as "jersey":

http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=751172042

Stringy, I wouldn't be too disappointed that they wouldn't ship here (they don't ship sale items for some reason) shipping to Aus is extortionate- 1 item is between $50 and $60 to send! For some reason, shipping costs with Fifty One who process the international orders for lots of US companies are really high but also seem to decrease with the number of things you order!?

Very average quality. Not bad and not the best either. Fine for the price.

yublocka, it looks like this is exclusively online. I wonder if they could order it in for you since you aren't able to purchase it online. I would definitely ask though, never hurts!

Stringy I may have "accidentally" wandered into the Gap store for the first time last week when I was at Chadstone. Nothing really grabbed me, so I didn't stay long. If you like I can look out for this top next time I go to Chadstone - probably in the next week or so. I doubt it'll be as cheap as the online special though!!

Well, that's a bit of a fizzer. They list Australia as a shipping destination, allow me to look at all items with Aussie dollars, but everything I look at has a "no international shipping for this item" label on it. Boooo!

Wow, those are some good reviews! I might order more than one while the Aussie dollar isn't too far away from the US one.

Thanks everyone for your input - I don't know how I would have figured this out before I found YLF

I have two of the long-sleeved favorite t's. I wore them both once to twice a week for 7 months and they are both in "new" condition. My only complain is the sleeves stretch if you like to push them up. Of course, they go back into shape with a wash, but they do stretch. Haven't had any problem with the body becoming out of shape though.

I have a 100% cotton Gap white tee that is at least 5 years old and has seen lots of use because the fit is just right for me. It still looks good. It's long sleeved and will soon come out for fall. It has never pilled or lost its shape in washer and dryer.

The Gap tee is a great basic! Much better quality than ON, not too surprisingly. I love mine. However, I usually go with the ones that have a bit of spandex in them. They keep their shape better than the 100% cotton.

In my experience, the quality is pretty good for the price. I have several Gap tees that have lasted through heavy wear for several years.

Gap has started shipping to Australia now, and I wondered if anyone in the US could tell me what the quality is like on the basic tees?

They're opening a store in Sydney (or is it Melbourne?) too, but that's a bit far for me to fly just for a few t-shirts

I am eyeing off this shirt in particular:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=751164042

because I've wanted a dark-brown tee for ages, and it's so hard to find that colour here. It's currently even harder to find anything in a v-neck, which I prefer to the scoop-necks that seem to be everywhere here.
