I had the same problem shopping for Deb that I have when I shop for myself, the really good stuff is really expensive. My pick is for the inspiration. I thought this Theory piece would make a nice spring topper.

Deborah! You are so fun to shop for. I appreciate your style even though -- or perhaps because -- it is so different from mine. Your aesthetic is so thoughtful and so genuine, and your photos are always beautifully composed. I seem to stumble across things of your style often. I love them visually and bookmark them even though they won't work for me. Here are several pieces from a favorite brand, OAK NYC, that I love for you. I can see you in any or all of these -- they have the requisite doses of beauty and drama.

Wow! You have got me in such a shopping mood with all these amazing ideas!!

Sarah L. I would absolutely wear that dress in black or maybe navy:) I love the finish at the hem. Such a cool dress.

AG: Love the clutch. (see finds #1 below for the one I have) I love the Poncho and could imagine wearing it with a white tunic length button down... hmmm

Word Lily, the yoga shawl is very me:) I would have it in soft grey and it would go with everything. My fave garments are ones that can be worn multiple ways.

Maneera, would you like to be my personal shopper;) That coat is fab. I have wanted something like that for a long time. I love the grey too:) #4 is probably the only thing I don't think I would wear due to the bulk it might add to my chest:) And I want those shoes!!

Suz, thank you! You know I have a soft spot for Canadian designers. I will spend some time tonight drooling over their designs. The sandals are fantastic. I would really like something like them for summer. My Spring/Summer footwear needs updating. The design of #3 is really beautiful (like the necklace too) and room for a Joey as you say And thanks for your awfully kind words xx

Joy, that leather vest is really unusual. I haven't seen anything quite like it. I think I might want it lol. And the leather bracelet with silver... right up my alley.

Stephanie, thank you! Love those shoes. The jacket might be touch too boho for me, but I never say never Did I say I love the shoes... off to the website to check them out properly.

Diane, you must live in my head:) I would love each of those. I can't stop staring at #2.

Peri, you are too sweet. Thanks for your lovely words. I think you nailed it!! I absolutely adore AllSaints but it's not available here and it pricey. #2 is a look that I have been keeping my eye out for. It's a great shape with drape but not oversized. I can already imagine what I would be wearing that with.

Kiwigal/Sally I would totally wear that top. Will be spending time perusing their site tonight also. I have a skirt that would work beautifully with that top, and the "floral" would be something different for me.

Brooklyn, you and me at Decjuba shopping one day in the future:) Love all of it. In fact check out Finds 2 & 3 (that I already own)... you are so on the money

Carla, when are we going shopping? #2 is so meant to be in my wardrobe.

Denise, I have been lusting after those RO pants (are they the sourel) for so long but the price is just too much The jacket is lovely. I do sometimes look at Derek Lam for inspiration. Such a beautifully cut jacket. And the swimmers!!! What to say.. I do love the retro look of them and they would cover my lumpy tummy;)

CocoC, you have to join Brooklyn and me shopping! #1 is so cool, I would love to wear that and #2... well I love a good impractical piece of clothing:)

Thank you all so much for the incredible inspiration. Looks like I better make a cuppa and settle in for some serious on line browsing xxx

I'm loving Deborah's items so far. Such amazing choices.

My first one is from a Polish label, Kortas, that I came across on an online site here in Oz called Buyinvite.
The sleeveless jacket has such a dramatic neckline and it reminded me so much of Deb when I first saw it.

The second is from a Melbourne designer who won project runway. Her name is Christina Exie. It's a totally impractical piece, but it's so spectacular and I think, most suited to our QFOD.

These harem pants aren't a new idea but I know she'd wear them all of the time! Perfect for at home and warm weather wear. And they would transition well into cooler weather. The next piece, the jacket, is not from Rick Owens it's from Derek Lam, so a less obvious choice. I think of Deborah as a master at layering and this jacket speaks to that.

Of course with temps heating up it's going to be a while before the jacket is needed. So in the meantime, I thought this retro two piece swimsuit could get packed in a bag, ready at moments notice for a tropical vacay.

I am going to go slightly wild card here with this stunning white top by NZ designer Moochi. Deborah is not really a floral person but I can see this stunning top working well with your black, white and grey pieces, maybe layered with more than just a bra underneath!!

Okay, I want to play, but this is really hard!! For one thing, me shopping for Deborah is like the equivalent of asking a second grader to teach me piano. You are one of my style idols...I think you already find much better things for you than I can find for you! And then there is the seasons thing too. I decided to ditch practicality issues of climate and shipping and just add some things that make me think "Deborah style".

I think the first two just look like things you already have, but the 3rd one, the AllSaints Gilet, looks like useful fun for Spring. And the 4th one, the AllSaints T, looks like angel wings to me. Who better to wear angel wings?!

This is great fun. What amazing suggestions so far! I'm thinking that you want to be contemplating warmer weather being in the Southern hemishpere so my suggestions are for Spring/Summer. I've gone designer/high end for my choices and so I looked on Farfetch for inspiration.

The first piece by Carven is a smart asymmetric dress which would maybe be suitable for work? : http://www.farfetch.com/uk/sho.....px?storeid...

The second piece by Mm6 Maison Margiela is actually a rather short dress, but with your petite height, Deb, it would be a longer length for you and I thought it may even look good with leggings? Unfortunately I can't get the link to work, but you can see it in photo #2

Finally, an interesting cardigan by Maison Margiela that could be for Spring or Autumn and has a really unusual shape with white tipping.

http://www.farfetch.com/uk/sho.....x?storeid=...

So many great suggestions already! I'm new, so I'll give it my best shot :)

Deborah, I'm a shoes girl and when I saw these M.Gemi pumps I thought they'd be a good fit for you. They're modern, classic and I like that they combine light grey and black which I could see fitting well into your existing wardrobe (from what I've seen on the forum so far at least).

I also love this lightweight, sheer jacket which I picture as a spring/summer layering piece. And it's in your staple color - black!

Suz, I love the Manifold dress from the Kaliyana collection... it's in LIME!

And these scrunchy leggings - so much like my beloved churidars. Can you see them with a poncho or some of your flowy tunics?

I will have to look for spring/summer for you when I have more time, but I found these items. The poncho is with thoughts of Angie's Blog post today. I liked the charcoal color for you as a slight change from black but could still blend with it. The bracelet did not seem to be available in black but the lighter color may be good for spring. The top, well I loved the texture it could give layered in one of your outfits.

Deborah, I'm not sure if you are in need of any replacements to essentials in your spring/ summer closet. But if so, you might want to check out Canadian brand Kaliyana, for women bored by "looking like everybody else."

Why do I think these clothes might appeal to you? Because of their..."Simple and timeless style inspired by unique cuts, textures, fabrics, colours and prints. Unstructured shapes with lots of pockets, asymmetric lines, layers and always comfort. Made of natural fibers such as linen, cotton, viscose, silk and wool."

(Web store http://www.ShonModern.com).

For instance, here is a simple tank I can see you wearing. It also comes in numerous other colours. Or perhaps you'd like this modern kimono jacket.

And, just for laughs -- because you are an Aussie, after all -- how about a cool tank...complete with kangaroo pouch pocket? :)

Bonus: because we are moving into winter on our side of the world, all these summer items are on sale!

Apart from the sale merchandise, you might also enjoy the possibilities of this Architect shirt. I love the abstract, asymmetrically placed black and white pattern and think it would be brilliant with many of your existing items. So would these amazing sandals.

Thank you for inspiring us all with the clarity and strength of your personal style. Thank you for gracing us all with your wisdom. We are much indebted to your incredibly fab example!! And we love you!!

Deborah is an expert when it comes to stylish layering....and she has a great eye for proportions and detail. I've seen her look and feel her best in black, grey, navy and some bit of white. She also loves interesting detailing and asymmetry.

Here are my picks for her.

1. The grey coat has a rather unique and artsy neckline and cut....might be fun to play around with for layering

2. The black jacket has an interesting cut and drape that screams 'Deborah'. A nice complement to your new white skinnies perhaps, Deb!

3. The cowl neck sweater will be another interesting layering piece, knowing Deb's love for adding pops of white to grey, paired with black pants

4. The light grey sweater just looked very cool....yet quite cosy

5. I haven't been on the forum long enough to see Deb's summer style, but I thought this asymmetrical hem black & white dress maybe something that would appeal to you.

6. These shoes are an alternative to your black block heeled pumps, Deb

7. A leather necklace for you!

8. Navy blue tunic to wear with white or black skinnies

I decided to look for poncho knitting patterns that reminded me of Deborah, and this is the one that stuck out to me:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/yoga-shawl

http://www.dreareneeknits.com/.....yoga-shawl

I love that there are lots of different ways it can be worn, but quite a few of them look like something Deborah would wear, to me. Because it's a pattern, it could be made in whatever color. I also like that it has a bit of texture to the fabric.

I'm not much of a shopper, but this dress immediately made me think of Deborah with the asymmetric hems and drapey silhouette. I know this dress is sold out in olive but I think it's still available in other colors, maybe even black. It's pretty casual and summery but still reminded me of Deb's style. I actually own this and have worn it a bunch this summer - sometimes I belt it for a different look.

I thought I'd restart this game with a member whose dramatic and unique style is known and loved on the forum: Deborah!

Deborah says:

I have never developed a style rubric because I find it really hard to categorise myself lol. A while back I came across the style description "Chic Avant Garde" and it resonated strongly with me.

"Chic" was defined as a powerful look and sharp lines that seem to come together in an effortless way. It is often monochromatic and combined with bold accessories. Avant Garde was then described as an ultra modern style that uses fashion as an extension of the wearer's creativity. It often seeks to make a dramatic statement. Typically, the foundation the wardrobe is black. So the Chic Avant Garde moves back and forth between the two style types as needed/desired, as is appropriate (perhaps depending on work dress code, desire for approachability etc), but more often blends the two by incorporating one Avant Garde item , with more streamlined, "chic" items therefore adding edge without 'looking loony", creating interest and sophistication.

I feel like this somewhat describes my style, and my goal is to develop this further.

Members can post as many finds as they would like. I love the inspiration.

We do have four distinct seasons where I live. Autumn and Springs are kind of similar (in terms of what you can wear) but Winter is cold and Summer hot.

Lifestyle wise, I am a professional (work part time), I do community work, am a Pastor's wife (but please don't stereotype me) and a mum.

Put your hunting gear on and start shopping! There's no deadline so take all the time you need - I'll try to get back to posting a QFOD per week but the thread will stay up regardless. I'm looking forward to this myself as I'll probably want most of what's posted. :)

If you are new, feel free to join - this is an open exercise in having fun, and you don't have to sign up to be QFOD to play, although you are welcome to do so! Rules here:
