It's so fun to see all these reviews! Thanks for posting.

New things I've been enjoying:
The Face Halo microfiber cleansing cloths. These really do a great job of cleaning off makeup. They claim to clean using only water, but I like my newest face cleanser (Hylamide Cleanser from Deciem), so I use that first, and then the Face Halo to finish up. Simple but effective. The Face Halo can be laundered normally and reused a bunch of times.

elpgal (&all), there's a powder/brush sunscreen as part of the NAS this year, the Supergoop one. Haven't tried it myself, but I've liked the other Supergoop stuff I've tried.

LaP, the Thinkbaby version has been my go-to sunscreen this summer and I really like it. Just zinc oxide so it doesn't bother my titanium dioxide sensitivities. Rachylou, I've heard good things about the Thrive mascara - it's one of those tubing ones.

danusia, I've never tried Dior makeup but I know a lot of people love their foundations. elpgal, the brush on the Derma-e is fairly smooth; it didn't bother me at all. torontogirl, I'll have to try that primer - ELF stuff seems to either become a holy grail, or be completely useless, but as you say the price point is so great I really don't mind.

I just picked up the ELF mineral primer on my Target shop and it's a good one ... I prefer it to my Smashbox one and it was only $6!

Thanks for these reviews. I tried the Peter Roth mineral sunscreen powder and the brush was so rough, it made me break out! How do like the brush on the Derma-E?

Ulta is having their liter shampoo sale and I picked up both the Redken High Volume Lifting shampoo and conditioner and absolutely love it! Since I have been growing out my pixie for the past year (chin level now) I needed some more volume and this does the trick and does not leave my hair feeling dry - but it also smells wonderful.

Also, at Sephora got a sample of the Diorskin Forever Skin Glow foundation and I am in love. The one I have been using since they discontinued their satin finish a few years ago is matte and I have not been fond of it.

Ah! I’ve been missing your product threads lately. I’ve been feeling make-up lately. And am thinking about trying Thrive cosmetics, because I keep seeing ads for them in my Spider Solitaire game, lol :)

Anyways, I have really not done foundation in decades, but I’ve been playing with L’Oreal Infallible Longwear Shaping Sticks. I’m enjoying them. Not dry like powder, not suffocating like liquid. Easy to apply and contour with. I like sticks.

A few things I've been pleased with this summer:

Thinksport mineral sunblock. Top-rated by EWG, SPF 50 with good sweat/water-resistance, non-irritating, and it smells great! (I got the kids version, which has a very light tropical scent; I can't speak to the other versions.)

I also got a sample of this Beach Waves perfume and love it for summer! I would never have guessed I'd like it, because vanilla is often too sweet and musk too heavy, but there are enough floral notes that it works, and I'm a sucker for rose and amber.

Also, this splurge-y Kosas lip balm is fantastic. I got the clear, but it works so well I might pick up the tinted ones at some point too. Very subtle flavor, goes on smooth and light yet is very long-lasting.

I’m going to do a separate post about my search for a new drugstore foundation, so this post isn’t too long. I had pretty good luck with most things I tried this spring.

Bioterra gel (Sally Beauty)
The Curly Girl Method (CGM), which I’ve been following for the last year or so, is big on using gels, applied while your hair is still sopping wet. I’ve tried it with some harder-hold gels like LA Looks and while it works OK, it’s a fussy process and takes forever to dry. I’ve been experimenting with different gels and this is my favorite so far. The Bioterra is a medium-hold gel, so no crunch you have to scrunch out. It seems to minimize frizz and provide some hold.

Jergens Glow wet skin moisturizer/self-tanner, light/medium
I had a sample container of this and liked it so much I bought the full-size. It’s not the kind you rinse off; you apply it on wet skin just after turning off the shower and leave on. It’s easy to apply, the wet skin makes it easier to end up with something even, and it doesn’t stain towels. It gives a bit of color but not so much that it looks cartoonish on pale me. I used to use their regular Glow lotions and I like this better.

Sonia Kashuk flat-top foundation brush (Target)
This is a very dense brush, slightly domed, that gives a nice finish. I do find that it soaks up a lot of product, though, so probably not the most economical approach to applying foundation.

Derma-e sun protection mineral powder SPF 30
I picked this up to keep in my car for midday touchups. It comes in a big tube with a built-in brush. It goes on translucent and tones down shininess. I can’t really tell about the sunscreen part, but I figure it can’t hurt.

CYO pigment paint in Champagne (Walgreens)
Mostly got this one because of a BOGO deal and it was meh. Nice color but creased on my eyelids and too pigmented to wear anywhere else. I feel like this is the kind of product that only looks good on teenagers with no texture issues on their skin.

Renpure Bamboo & coconut water shampoo
A good gentle no-SLS daily shampoo at a decent price.

Yes to Carrots nourishing conditioner
Medium-weight, good at conditioning but not the best at detangling.

Neutrogena hydroboost gel cream moisturizer [the ‘for extra-dry skin’ version has no fragrance]
This is a decently formulated hydrating serum/gel, but I didn’t find it enough on its own for dry skin at night – I needed a more occlusive layer on top. Overall, I thought it was OK but not amazing, especially considering the small size.

Any hits or misses for you recently?
