I have used 2 approaches--one is a type of insert with slots--I got one item from the Container Store that I modified by cutting off the handles. I have an ancient insert I inherited from mom. One problem is that stuff can fall out of even those.

Then I also use the zipper pouches. I like the mesh ones in different colors except for something that might get messy.
I have a few made up according to the theme of the "stuff"--basics like folding brush/tissues/contact lens stuff, or compact/lipstick, or sunscreen/ insect repellant.
Church is an event for which I frequently take a bag not used in regular work rotation so I have a small mesh pouch almost just for Sunday with just the few items I need then.
I have one drawer in my bathroom that is devoted to travel stuff and pouches/inserts, so I grab & go and then empty out the handbag to store in closet.
Plain ziplock bags work too.

It is still more trouble than I like, and so I tend to change handbags only for a special activity or Sunday.

I have a purse organizer from QVC....can't remember the brand. its fairly rigid, with a large section in the middle and smaller pockets around the outside...I still throw thing in my bag willy-nilly so its not organized but it's good for giving my softer bags structure.

I use a leather lanyard for my keys to attach to the purse strap. I have never had a problem myself.

The mould problem sounds gross :p

I feel your pain! My bf can tell you horror stories of me digging for my chapstick. The words that come out of my mouth! My solution has always been to get a new bag but ymmv ;).

I second the zippered pouches route. It takes me seconds to change from one handbag to another, and, even better, I can easily limit stuff to only what I need for that day. I use one small pouch for grooming essentials and another for "city walking/first-aid" stuff. My keys are on a tiny citron pouch so they are easy to find even at the bottom of my handbag. Toss in my wallet and phone, and I'm out the door. Since my handbags vary in size and shape, I can't see a handbag organizer working very well for me.

Really? Mold? I've used my Kangaroo Keeper for a couple of years and love it and haven't seen a trace of mold!

My only suggestion is make sure you get a light-colored organizer so you can see what's in there. I had a black one for a while and it was literally a black hole into which everything disappeared. Switching to tan made a world of difference.

Your blue bag is fab!

I've never used a purse organizer. For cavernous purses I use zippered pouches in different colors to help me find my things.

Really? Mold problems? That seems so odd. Does the mold come from the factory? I have something like the kangaroo keeper and have never had mold.

I have one I bought from Ebay similar to number 2 on Etsy. I've had the other type as well. Both work find, but I like the stand alone one better. It's easily trasferable from bag to bag and it fills out your purse as well so it doesn't look too "baggy" when you are actually using it. It's a lifesaver at keeping all my junk organized and easily accessible.

I don't do "boho" type bags simply because of the endless digging around at the bottom of the bag for "whatever you happen to want/need at the moment."

I am loving my new Danier bag but it is driving me absolutely crazy with the single cavernous cavity and not a single pocket in sight.
Last night while shopping with my lovely DD, I was certain my keys had been misplaced (sigh), thankfully I found them.
I have looked at the Kangaroo keeper but they have had serious mold issues with the product.
Does anyone have a recommendation? I have found 2 on etsy that might work
http://www.etsy.com/listing/93.....h_type=all
http://www.etsy.com/listing/10.....h_type=all
