Hi, Leah! Another Minnesotan-- and one with short arms, too (like me!).

The new jacket sounds promising Looking forward to pics.

Just a bit of an update - I ventured back out to the stores today for another go, and had much more luck! I couldn't find a cropped jacket that I was really pleased with, but I did find a longer trench coat with a full-ish skirt that looks much better with my skirts. My batteries are dead, so no pictures just yet, but I think it's a big improvement.

(And Angie - yep, I'm 5'2". Sleeve length is always a trial for me...)

Your boots are FAB - love 'em! I wouldn't mind the rain if I had those to pull on my feet! As far as the jacket goes - I really like it, but am agreeing with everyone else - it seems to be an odd length for you for wearing skirts. How about shortening the skirt? - or getting a shorter jacket? But, I gotta' say the purple is working!

Welcome to the forum, Leah! So glad that you posted :)

I'd have preferred to see you in a more cropped jacket for skirts. Are you petite? Your arm length looks petite.

Love the wellies!

Hi Leah!!!

It's a beautiful jacket and fits you really well! How about trying it with more of a fall skirt- dark denim or corduroy? I think the fullness of the skirt looks fine. It might be the contrast of colors and materials that's throwing it off.

I'm thinking it's a bit too long to wear with a skirt? Though it could be the contrast in the colours which is throwing the look off? x

Welcome Leah and congrats on your first post! Im not a jacket expert but to my eye it looks a little short in length but maybe it's the skirt length that throwing it off a it and also the sleeves are a little too long. By the look of the skirt and the fact that you wear full skirts and dresses more, I'd say you're style is on the girly feminine side so maybe the issue you're having with pairing it with anything is because it's not really your style?

Hope that helps!

I'm new here too! Same as others have said, though - I'd go shorter with the full skirts. I think the jacket needs to be paired with fitted bottoms. Purple is fun!

Thanks for the boot compliments (I love 'em too - they always make me feel a little better about having to go out in the rain) and the jacket advice. I kind of suspected the same thing - awkward length to wear with skirts. I think it would probably good with pants, but I have no pants other than for gym use, so that doesn't really help much. Perhaps I'll head back to the shops tomorrow and see if I can find something either shorter or longer. I think either would be better than the awkward mid-length. Any other comments on this jacket or ideas on better ones are quite welcome.

I do like the jacket, but agree with Lisa that the skirt length needs to be different- either shorter or longer, this just looks a bit blocky.

Hi *waving*! Love your wellies. I like the jacket but not with this specific skirt, I would go shorter if you want to wear this with skirts and dresses. I would be curious to see this jacket with jeans or trousers.

I've never been much of a short jacket wearer; I usually prefer to tough it out with sweaters until it gets cold enough for a real coat, but apparently that won't cut it now that I've moved to Minnesota. My jacket-ineptitude is compounded by the fact that I almost never wear pants. It's always skirts (usually full skirts) and dresses, and I've never been sure what kind of jacket looked good with skirts. After way too much time in the mall yesterday, I came home with this dark purple (looks black in the pictures, but it's really more of a dark plum or eggplant or something) jacket. I loved it yesterday, but after trying it on with a million things today, I'm not 100% sure. What do you think - is it okay with a full skirt, or is it weird and I should try again? Or is it just overall a bad jacket and I should not make shopping decisions after 18 hours awake? Honest opinions, please. :)

Pictures (forgive the rain boots and wet hair - it's kind of ucky outside):

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_jFBS8AiR.....G_4966.JPG (open - probably wouldn't wear it like that much - too cold for it)

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_jFBS8AiR.....G_4973.JPG (closed - ignore the facial expression - my cat was being a weirdo)

Oh, also... Hi. *waves* I've lurked here forever, but this is the first time I've ever said anything.
