I'm not that good at nicknames or puns but we commonly call my youngest "crankster".  My brother's name is Todd and we called him Toddler when we were kids, which he hated.   Me and my husband always come up with nicknames for the strangers we see when we travel - Mr Balloon Head (the guy with the really big head and skinny neck), Naked Lady (the lady in the flesh colored bikini that we all thought was naked at first glance), Mr One Fish (guy who told a long story about how he went snorkeling and only saw ONE FISH).  They're not puns though and sometimes they're not very nice, but they're not meant to be insulting, just an easy reference so we know who we're talking about. ramya on "*" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/punny-nicknames-share-em#post-962755 Sun, 23 Jun 2013 14:41:36 +0000 ramya 962755@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ Am still called dummy (mother tongue for chubby) coz I was a 5kg baby whose eyes were almost closed thanks to cheeks in my moms side of family. I also get called Airin (Aireene) pretty regularly since that's how my name sounds in English and I have a degree in English, after all. It has derived into other versions like Airini, Ai-Ai and Airinolis, among others. I don't think we ever had anything close to this. DH does not pun, either, though we do make up our inside code names for certain things - like "dude packs" for big groups of frat-like guys who roam the malls together. I have one friend who is wild for puns, but we try not to encourage him or he will never stop. :) Have you ever been to a Punday Night Party? It's like a regular party but, at some point, everyone stands in a circle and passes puns around. Or "Conus," which was her next nickname, and sort of made sense, because she had a cone-like mass of curls that she wore piled on top of her head.  Mine are "Q" for Susie-Q, and "Cruiser" for Suz (my actual name is Susan, not Susanne, but Suz and Susie were always my family nicknames). My stepdaughter calls me Q and stepson 2 calls me Cruise and Cruiser. Or Cruisecontrol.
