Garmenta is right on :

There are dry cleaners that are now certified "green" cleaners or "eco" cleaners. You might search for one on the web.

It's stylish to keep warm in a fitted puffer in a cool color!

Synthetic fills are probably machine washable, but I'd take a down puffer to the dry cleaner. If you feel uneasy about dry cleaning, check around to see if you have a "green clean" option nearby. More and more dry cleaners are using non-toxic methods and products and advertise themselves as environmentally friendly.

I have two puffers, but one is so new that I haven't washed it yet. The other is machine washable.
And I think they're very stylish!

What does the tag say? I would imagine that the cleaning recommendations depend on what it's filled with.

My down coat is machine washable too! Super convenient. My puffer isn't as flattering as it could be (I bought it pre-YLF) but I spice it up with cute scarves and hats and it gets the job done just fine. I couldn't survive a Chicago winter without it.

Blonde, have you read Angie's posts on puffers? They're great and have led to *a lot* of discussion around here. I'm sure you can find a stylishly-acceptable option that keeps you warm too.

Mine is machine washable. I don't see a problem with them, as long as they have a little shaping. I just bought one last year and I'll never go another winter without one.

I know these are not the most flattering coats, but when it gets below 30 degrees and you have to walk around the city to get around you need down jackets, ear muffs, hats, and gloves to stay warm - not very ideal for a fashionista but if we must we must.

My question is how to clean a puffy jacket? Do I take this to the cleaners? Is there a more environmentally safe way to clean my puffy coat?
