I like #3 the most too. The puffs in #4 seem algo to me. Hoods never bother me in the car, and I've had 2 + hour commutes. Plus, then if it rains or snows during the day, you don't have to worry about a hat!

I also like the Eddie Bauers. My main winter puffer has a non-removable hood but I like it - you never know when you need to pull it up. But if it doesn't work for you then I would go with #4.

#3 and 4 get my vote. I prefer the look of #3, but if you think the hood is an issue, then #4 is a good compromise. #1 is definitely too big.

I like both Eddie Bauer options in the first group. But the non- removable hood sounds like a deal breaker

I love 3.
I don’t think a non-removable hood is a big deal. They smush up in the car.

You will love having a puffer coat. They are so light weight, yet wRm when they need to be. I like the last Eddie Bauer one and the one you added later that is not as warm. You know what would work best in your climate.
I have a warm puffer and one more like the added one that is not as warm. I wear both equally as much. I have a puffer in a sort of off white and one in deep navy. The olive one is the lighter weight. I keep the hoods on as they do not bother me but camouflage my sway back. The olive one does not have a hood but a big collar. The faux fur is removable but I keep it on as I like the color with my grey hair and white boots.

I like the two Eddie Bauer options. I might actually prefer the first one (with the hood that doesn't come off) because the hood is sleeker than the one with the fur trim, and I like that sleekness on you. I totally get a big hood being in the way in the car -- I have a parka I rarely wear because I have to tilt the seat so far back to accommodate the massive hood. But the non trimmed hood doesn't seem to me like it would get in the way. (although if it feels that way to you, I that's what matters!) It looks like you have some good contenders, anyway.

I found another one I like. Not as super warm and poofy. There is a gathered waist at the back, to rein in the volume, but it's a bit higher than my natural waist.

I like the last two best as well.l think a full length puffer is worth the investment if you find one you like.

Which one?

I've been thinking of a puffer for a while. My long wool blend coat was looking threadbare. And now it's lost 2 of its 4 buttons so it's really time.

I came to our (small) city today to try things on, since I hate on line shopping and I'm in Canada.

Contenders:
1 Marks. Very comfy. It's a size larger than I usually take but only one they had. Is it too big?

2 Fairweather (trendy store). Fits better but I don't like the buttons, and the zippers feel iffy.

3 Eddie Bauer first try on. I love everything about this except that the hood doesn't remove, which is not practical for my car commuting life.

4 Eddie Bauer again. I think this is it. Hood is removable. Can tighten the waist as desired. Pricier than some (but end of season sale) but this one should last.
