modgrl: Nice guessing on the Philly bit! I was hoping it was not that obvious.

To me stylish cycling means to be able to cycle in your regular clothes albeit with a few considerations or modifications.

I love biking. It is pretty much my only mode of transport in the city, and I bike throughout the year. I have biked in pant suits, dresses, and most of my wardrobe can be adapted to cycling.

Working in a lab means I usually gravitate towards skinny jeans and a long-ish top that covers my waistband when I lean forward. I do love the freedom and breeziness of skirts in the summer. If they are shorter than knee length I add bike shorts underneath. In winter skirts are paired with tights or skinny jeans are tucked into boots. Heels, wedges, flats - any kind of footwear goes as long as the sole is not too slippery, to prevent the shoe from sliding off the pedals.

I usually add scarves for warmth and color and these days a jacket, gloves and an earmuff or headband helps keep me warm. If I have to carry my laptop, I use a backpack, otherwise I have a few cross-body leather bags I love (as seen in the pictures) In winter, I add a layer of a wool sweater, additional thermal leggings, woolen socks, woolen inner gloves and a trapper style hat. If it is raining my outer layer is waterproof and I add fenders. I do keep a spare set of clothes in my office for the very rare downpours I get caught in.

Outfit 1: skinny jeans, boots, tunic, scarf, my trusty mountain bike
http://www.flickr.com/photos/1.....312303104/

Outfit 2 (taken while visiting my boyfriend in Amsterdam - look at all the bikes!!): skinny jeans, flats, colorful top, blazer, cross-body bag, my boyfriend's mountain bike, his only bike that fits me.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/1.....311782975/

Outfit 3: Biking makes dates more fun! Dress (self-made!), tights, heels, cardigan, belt
http://www.flickr.com/photos/1.....311783083/

Outfit 4: Standard biking outfit these days - skinny jeans tucked into boots, long top, wool jacket, scarf, cross-body bag and headband (in hand) to cover my ears.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/1.....312303736/

Thanks for this wonderful giveaway (which was the last push I needed to join the forum, after having read the blog for ages) and for promoting urban cycling! That is a topic I am extremely passionate about and am constantly trying to convert more people to use cycling as transportation. I also am an admirer of PUBLIC bikes for a while. I love the design, form and colors of their bikes.
