You know, my personal preference for boxy jackets is actually to go shorter than in #2. I do wear boxy jackets, but most of mine are quite cropped. I wear them over tunics and dresses that have some waist definition (not necessarily body con, just more fitted). To my eye, #2 seems either too long or too short for a boxier style. But, again, that is just my personal preference. We all (thankfully) see things differently.

That's what I was thinking of, actually! I also wonder if it might be too short to ever be flattering.

I would try pinning it before you decide to tailor to see if you even like the look. Nipping the waist may not even work with the overall style/cut of the jacket -- which I think is intentionally a bit boxier. But it is worth a shot. That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with #2. It is a nice jacket. I just think that the other two are more traditionally figure flattering -- but that doesn't have to be a priority every time we dress. [I personally like shooting for JFE these days. ]

Jaileen -- As there are features you clearly like about #2 (fabrication, pockets), would it be worth having it tailored (I am thinking, from the back) to nip in the waste a bit?

Thanks Firecracker, Ledonna, Viva, Robin. It's interesting that pretty much everyone likes 1 and 3, and 2 not so much. 2's fabric is really nice - very smooth with a slight stretch. Also I like the pockets. The picture of me in it? Not as much. 1 and 3 are really not interchangeable. 3 is for being outdoors with dogs. 1 is for lunch with friends.

I like 1 and 3 also; 1 for indoors (as well as outdoors on a warm day) and 2 as an outdoor jacket. (It doesn't look quite sleek enough to wear as an indoor blazer-substitute, to me.) I quite like the color of 2, but I prefer the style and fit of the others.

Brooklyn, thanks. I love these kind of jackets, too. I think they just fit my style. You nailed it though - 1 is dressier, the others more casual. BTW, I didn't style them or anything, I wanted to see what people thought about fit and whether they were dated or not. Three might be excessive. Actually I have another green jacket, but it's more gear.

I like them all. I have a soft spot for this look. No 1 is definitely the best. It is also the most dressy. No 2 and 3 would be good for casual wear. No 3 looks roomy enough to layer under in cold weather. No 2 looks like it would be better as a light topper for summer.

Goldenpig, Ummlila, thanks for your opinions. When I saw 3 in the pictures, it looked kind of rumpled and definitely casual - going grocery shopping or hiking, etc. #1 looks a little more sleek, maybe for going out to lunch or church. Until now I liked 2 except for the lightness. I even considered dyeing it, but it is a cotton blend so I don't know how that would work out. Now I can see it is boxy. Everyone could see it except for me.

Jaileen… I think what I find less appealing about #2 is the boxier cut. You look so fab in #1 with its gently curved waistline… and yes, peplum-like back. #3 also looks good as it has a cinched waist. (I have a similar jacket from Old Navy and get a lot of casual wear out of it.)
