Robin, you might be interested in the Athleta Trekkie Jogger, which does come in petite. I tried them on recently in the regular length, and have them on my wish list to order soon in petite. (Petites aren't available in-stock at my local store.) I've had good luck with petites at Athleta, because they seem to properly adjust the rise and well as the pants length.
The stitching on the pockets could make them harder to dress up than the TNF ones, but on the other hand they have a proper zip fly paired with a stretch rib-knit waistband, as opposed to a drawstring waist.
Lisa, like Bonnie, I'm looking forward to seeing how you style these. I know you'll make them look chic and fashionable!

Robin - they aren't a long pant - you might be able to do it. On 5'8" ish daughter, they are at her ankle bone, or even a tad above. Might be worth a try - although I admittedly have no idea how tall you are .

These look great but I'm afraid with that type of cuff I would need a petite and TNF doesn't carry petites as far as I'm aware. Bummer.

I saw some joggers in the Athleta catalog a few months ago and thought "I can make that work" and bought a grey pair and a black pair of knockoffs at Target. I love them! I had forgotten how much I enjoy a pant that's tighter at the ankle, thanks to listening to Clinton and Stacey all those years (WNTW). I find that they work well even for my short hippy self, and have worn them a lot. I have a pair of gear-ish strapped flats from Duluth Trading Company (grey & plum) and that's my favorite shoe to wear with them. I'm looking forward to trying them with my leather jacket as soon as we warm up a bit here.

Thanks for that info, LP -- I'll give these a bash in spite of my anti-gear rant. For me, they do not look like "activewear" (per Anna G's hilarious video) but more like a sporty luxe ingredient that, as you have pointed out, could easily be dressed up.

Carla - rise seems to be about 10". I say about, because DD was measuring it with a metal tape measure while wearing them- sigh. Kids.

Angie- no doubt about it - these are not pretending to be anything other than gear pants . But they are not logo-d and because of the quality of the fabric, are thus suitable for a few different uses . I can't wait to wear mine ! DD also announced she will be buying them in other colours today too ;)

Thanks, Lisa. They look great.

Like April, I was going to ask about the position of the logo too. I'm a bit allergic to TNF label because it makes everything look like gear. They have gotten more subtle though. And if you have to hunt for it - good news.

I see these fun joggers with dainty pumps, sequin top, denim jacket and bling.

April - the only label or logo is a tiny fabric tag sewn down on the edge of one of the front pockets. You'd have to hunt for it to notice it

I still love joggers!

I could wear just the right kind to work - black-because they read as a tapered slim but not skinny pant and work great with different shoes, but they'd need to be refined. Hard to tick all the boxes.

I already have a pair of stretch nylon joggers or I'd consider these!
I got them last year. They were such a smart buy.
I wear them to-from the gym in the winter. The nylon really cuts the cold.

Hmmm. These SO look like the kind of thing that works well for you, and that you intuitively know how to deal with. I WANT THEM because they look for comfortable and cute and are a nice alternative to jeans. But I worry I won't know what to do with them to make them look sharp. I might try, though, using your guidance. In US dollars, they're crazy cheap.

LP -- do these have a North Face label on the outside? I don't see it in the photos, but sometimes their labels are the same color as the items and hard to spot.

Rise is good - and I know what you mean. If the rise is too high, I get a balloon stomach look going on , which is really not cool. I'll measure the M for you when she takes them off- which could be never.

DD, 21, brought these North Face pants home from work today . They are from the new Spring collection . Called "joggers" , they are a stretch woven with a smooth drapey hand. The waistband is nice and substantial and wide, and the self- cuffed bottoms are perfect: not too balloon-y. Side entry pockets, and a slim profile makes these the perfect pant for everyday - and they also look great with a heel and a blazer. I tried hers on and have instructed that she bring me home a pair tomorrow We are both a M in North Face pants. She's a good 3-4 inches taller so the pants are just to her ankle and they are a little more form fitting on her. On me, the bottom volume is a little more because I'm shorter (ugh) but still not too balloon-y (note: new fashion term). Highly recommend these - and at $89 Cdn, they are great value. She says the denim blue and the mauve grey both look like pyjama bottoms, so I'd stick to the black. I plan to wear mine for work with a blazer, a t or silk top and a heeled bootie (Freebird Quails come spring ); and , for casual days with leather Converse high-tops, a denim jacket (it's on my must figure-out list for spring) and a pretty t or tank.
