Therefore, they're charging me $66 extra in duties and customs fees.&nbsp;It just seems really quite a high number.&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a ~21% upcharge. (&lt;-that's the difference between the boots+GST/PST&nbsp; and what Nordstrom is charging.) Crew and Land's End. </p> <p>BR/ GAP (but not Athleta) has a Canadian site, so that's a different thing altogether. Ditto Zara and others -- it's all built into the Canadian price in the first place so no additional charges.&nbsp;</p> <p>I am not sure how small companies get around it. In some cases, you'll be charged duty at your door. It's happened to me. It all depends on how fussy the Canadian customs people are that week. Some items get by without a hitch.&nbsp;</p> <p>It's because the Nordstrom online site isn't Canadian. You can see the prices in CAD (or US, if you prefer). But you won't know until the end what duties/ taxes you'll pay to have it delivered to Canada. That's why I almost never order online into Canada but do it to a US address instead. I bought last year’s lined ‘winter’ version at somewhat of a discount in January this way (I was on the fence and willing to wait and possibly miss out, and the sale happily coincided with some birthday money).<br /> Every time I put a Nordstrom’s item in my cart it goes up around 50% between duties and shipping.
