When I have the whole closet at my disposal it is easy to wear the items that only go with one or two other things, but when I am trying to pack light it becomes more obvious that I don't really have the right items to mix and match. The biggest problems for me are usually shoes, jackets, and bags. I have some items from my two month trip to Europe back in 1990 that *still* get worn. A few items from that trip have worn out, and I miss them. Sadly, a few items were mistakes that never got the wear they deserved. </p> <p>I don't know where you usually travel, but I feel this is a good time to share some advice with everyone. If the shop owner offers you some wine, which of course has been homemade by his family for generations (so how can you refuse?), be careful. Before long, you may be tipsy and buying out the store. Your friend with the wine will inevitably take you to another wonderful shop that happens to be owned by his friend after he sells you more stuff that you don't really need, and the cycle continues. Eventually, you will have to figure out how to get those two large Persian carpets onto the airplane home.
