Firecracker, yes, they seem to be comfortable. I wore them on some errands today after I got some initial feedback on the thread. I know now that I definitely don't want them any bigger, because I was already having some problems with my shirt becoming untucked in the back while on errands. (Although to be fair, I didn't have a belt on, because I was doing some belt shopping.) I do think I might have had them kind of tugged up in the photo. I pulled them down today when I put them on. I don't want them too high in the rise because I am very short waisted, and higher rises just look silly on me. In fact, I have had such a problem with higher rises as of late that I am really trying to stick to my guns in buying petite pants as well as petite tops, because the rise works so much better.

Thanks for all the input, everyone! It really puts my mind at ease.

I'm not seeing them as too big or boyfriendy at all, and was thinking what Suz suggested about even going up another size if you want that effect. But yes, there is always that waist/belt issue.....
I

They look good. I wouldn't worry about whether they look like a boyfriend fit or not--because there are so many interpretations. They do look roomy in the legs, but I don't see wrinkling that indicates a poor fit there. They look like they could be borderline short in the rise, though. Maybe tug them down a little bit lower? Are they comfortable?

Hmmm- I just bought something similar but more fitted than yours, because I don't want to have to wear a belt in warmer weather. Reading other's thoughts with interest.

Yup. I hear you on that one. These will also ease up a bit as you wear them. So I would say, wear in confidence! They look like nice pants.

Thanks, Suz. I actually asked the SA about trying the next size up, but she was really hesitant and said she thought they would look odd. I think that if I size up another size, I'm going to start having a problem with the waistband being too loose to be held up properly by a belt without there being lots of bunching.

Those don't look too big to me. Keep in mind that I'd expect a baggy fit in chinos, for sure. In motion the effect is a bit different. If anything I might size up even more for added ease. But I'm a bit of an outlier that way I suspect.

ETA: Wow, it came through OK! A little grainy, but I think it works?

Angie, I don't have a phone, believe it or not! Maybe I can see if my built-in video on my computer will do the trick. But I tried that for a photo for my avatar, and once it was uploaded, it shrunk down to postage-stamp size, argh.

The wrinkling probably has nothing to do with the fit and everything to do with the fabric. I really like those pants - and love the look. There is no way they are going to look dressy and wrinkle-free though - part of the whole casual fit and look here.

Funny though, I bought a pair from BR last summer in that colour (and a bigger size than usual) , but I think they were just their regular Martin fit . I rolled up the bottom, thought the whole thing was fine, and then hated them all day long. I felt like I was wearing golf pants that were too big. But I think that was my fault for buying the wrong pant - ugh, typical.:)

Having been a long- time wearer of baggy chinos, I sympathize. I like my " slimBF" jeans but did not try to do BF chino's. I think the fabric is more problematic and I also have almost sworn off beige pants. For a summer non- denim fabric, I went with Gap cotton- linen pant that is slightly roomy but also tapered. For a true chino, which I wear for hiking, I kept my favorite color in my 2- year old Eddie Bauer broken- in straight chino as I still think it looks " current enough" and actually looks okay with a hem roll, and I did not want to invest more at this time.

I can't help you. Although I admire what other women are doing with their BFs, I have yet to find a pair that I like enough to buy. I can say though that the chinos in the picture look great. I would definitely be tempted by them.

I just bought these chinos from BR. They are a boyfriend fit. I sized up for extra slouch.

I've never worn anything that's a boyfriend fit before. I looked at my back view in the mirror, and the rear end looks OK, but the thighs and calves are really wrinkly in the back. I see that the pics online with the models show some wrinkling in the back too but only about half as much as I have. I assume it's from sizing up. Is a lot of wrinkling OK, or does that make the pants look sloppy?

I'm sorry that I can't post a picture...I have no camera.
