Thanks SarahD8, I am glad you found that helpful. I plan to continue the layered necklace look through spring and summer. I think it can work against summer outfits but might be best against plain coloured tops or dresses (not patterns). And yes, I think if each seasonal theme is a gentle evolution of the last theme, some overarching themes might emerge (or I hope so anyway!)

Brooklyn, it has been such a treat to follow your project. Thank you for keeping us updated! Each batch of outfits has been lovelier than the last.

I am really liking the layered necklaces. Thanks for linking to the video and also for providing the specific lengths of necklaces you use -- numbers are SO helpful to me! I have a layered necklace look I want to try out although I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out a summer outfit that I feel will stand up to it. Hmm.

I look forward to seeing how your spring/summer theme develops. You mentioned that you have always had trouble settling on a single style moniker. I wonder, if you do these seasonal themes several times in a row, will some more overarching theme emerge?

Thanks Jenn. Yes, the jewellery experimentation was fun and kept me interested. I’m almost decided on a theme for spring. I want to introduce more contrast and graphic prints and some different textures (swapping out the brocade, velvet, wool and leather for tweed and more jersey and cotton).

Those layered necklaces really do make a difference in changing the mood of pieces you already had. It sounds like this has provided just enough of a twist to keep things interesting. Have you decided what you'll be doing for spring?

Gryffin, I find for longer necklaces a difference in length of about 4-5 inches works well. I use a 45 inch chain as my anchor and then add 40, 36, 32 and 28 inch necklaces (or some combination of these). For shorter length necklaces, I think the layers look better if they are quite close in length. So maybe I will wear a 10 inch choker plus an 11 inch necklace plus a 13 inch necklace. I prefer the metal finish to be similar and the level of refinement. I am still experimenting. I don’t know if you saw this video I posted earlier, but I found it helpful:

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-necklaces

The Cat, thanks! I am comfortable with multi necklaces but it’s quite the palaver to get them on and off if I go to the gym. Note to self: avoid wearing 7 necklaces on gym days.

And thanks Shevia and Krish. Krish, I have a few of the turtleneck tops that you mention and will certainly try that combo out.

You have a great collection of necklaces! I like how you combined them in 3 and 8 most.
Favorite is 2 - so dramatic! - but I also am very fond of 7.
I like the skirt in 4, but I'd like to see it with another top - either a cream color silk blouse, or a closer to the body formula like a turtleneck or jersey.

Brooklyn - May I ask a really stupid question? I think the whole key to necklace layering is getting the lengths right, followed by complimentary thickness, metals, stones. May I ask the lengths of your necklaces and which combos of lengths you find most harmonious?

Necklaces really seem to be key accessories for you, and you wear them so well. Personally, I would feel very dressed up if I wore more than two necklaces, but you wear your layered necklaces in a natural and chic casual way. A perfect look for you--and a source of inspiration to the rest of us.

Brooklyn, your dark romance project has been so much fun to follow. While I love the first outfit, the white jacket takes it out of the dark romance catagory. Maybe it is dark romance moving into cool/cold spring. Every outfit is beautifully executed. Maybe summer can be romance in the midnight garden with your dark florals. Jewelry can be the moon and stars, or tinkily like a fountain of water.

Jenni. That is so nice, it made me a bit teary! (Feeling a bit emotional this week!) I know that you describe your style as eclectic, and when I came to the forum I described mine that way too. I struggle with a moniker because, unless it’s very broad, I don’t think it covers all the styles that interest me from time to time. And if it’s very broad, it’s not that helpful for shopping and outfit creation. So I think having a seasonal theme allows me to indulge my changing moods more. Maybe I will have more than one theme under an overarching moniker eventually but this winter I really enjoyed having a singular focus.
I hope your move goes well.

Brooklyn you are SO BEAUTIFUL I have to shout it from the rooftops. I feel really encouraged for my future wardrobe by the mix of variety and cohesion. Moving into new house and new wardrobe space draws nearer, I hope by spring, and everything must earn its place.

Aww never thought I'd say this but winter is almost over already!?? I have loooooved sharing this project with you! SO FUN and so well executed. Can't wait to see what spring brings!

Adore #2 and #7 especially (necklace layering is on point!) with #6 sneaking in close behind. But of course they are all fabulous! Nice that you were able to pick up the lace-up boots in burgundy.

Great looks! I love the skirt in #6! Your statement "Variety + cohesion are often competing goals for me" resounded with me as well. You've done a great job with this project, though.
