Kari, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles! My skin can get sensitive to pretty much anything, including aloe and glycerin. I have to make sure that I mix and match lots of products so I don't overdo it on any one product. My medicine cabinet is full of products because I have to rotate so much. Super annoying.

My hair is like that too.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences!

StyleDetective, I am an odd duck and have eczema-prone skin that also breaks out if it doesn't get what it wants. It can be tough staying abreast of my skin's current "trends"!

Kari, it sounds like I have nothing to lose by trying the niacinamide, since it is so affordable. I used one by Paula's Choice several years ago but didn't notice much difference, especially for the price.

It looks like a good bet for me for starting might be the squalane cleanser. I'm nearing the end of my makeup remover, which I find to be a bit harsh, so this would be a good time to try it.

In the future I think I will try out one of the retinol products (still using my expensive one up) as well as one of the vitamin C serums. Then maybe add the Buffet in. I'll have to go slow so I don't freak my skin out.

As someone with sensitive skin, I really appreciate that the Ordinary's formulas are so targeted. I shy away from anything with too many active ingredients. I've used their HA serum in the past and liked it, and I'm curious to try the squalene cleanser. My favorite Deciem products (the parent company) are actually in the Chemistry Brand line. The Heel Chemistry, Hand Chemistry, and Hyaluronic Concentrate for all-over body use are all excellent moisturizers, really effective.

I’ve been using the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalene every night for the last six months - it’s wonderful! No flaking or irritation on my dry, sensitive skin, but I’ve also been using low concentrations of retinol for years.

(The retinoids in this line are supposed to be much lower irritation but might be less effective than retinol: https://www.google.com/amp/s/t.....y-retinoid)

My skin seems to be as clear and smooth as it was when using Paula’s Choice 1%. That was not a product I could use everyday - too much drying and flaking. Even if you combine products, it’s still pretty affordable and a decent amount of product. And it means you can easily avoid those ingredients that cause sensitivity.

I also just started using the revesterol and ferulic acid as well - not much to say yet other than it absorbs well and doesn’t irritate.

I should probably try the squalene cleanser and the buffet - I bet I’d like them. I’ve experienced irritation with Vitamin C on my face in the past, so will probably avoid that for now.

I have just started using their buffet, vit c and retinol preps as well as their rosehip oil.Too early to say if they are working but they are inexpensive compared to other brands for the same ingredients so a good place to try something that you are not sure about without investing too much money up front I would say.

I have very dry, eczema prone skin and the 100% squalane is great for keeping my skin hydrated and non-flaky. I apply it at night, ideally with a moisturiser over the top, and then wake up with nice skin. It's much better than the rosehip oil I was using before.

I haven't tried the cleanser but I think it depends on what you want - if you want to clean your face but keep it moisturised, go the cleanser, and if you want to moisturise, use the oil. Some people do cleanse with oil I think but that's outside the realm of my skin care knowledge :)

Everyone is different though. Because my skin is so dry, I've always tolerated moisturing oils very well, and generally don't break out from them. Whereas people with more normal or acne/pimple prone skin might find it more difficult.

Oh also, I used their hylauronic acid which other people rave about, but it was a bit of a dud for me.

I use their hyaluronic acid in the morning and the buffet at night. I like them.

I use Paula Begoun’s reviews on Beautypedia as a guide. When I looked into the brand a while back I think she criticised some of The Ordinary’s products for being too “one note” - so have to use a few of them to get a good blend of ingredients. (Their Buffet serum is an exception to that.) But she was otherwise very complimentary about the effectiveness and value of the range.
