Yes, a closer fit than 7-9 would be better, and Firecracker explained the baby bootcuts exactly. I hope you find some other options to try!

Vix - you're right. I'll need jeans I don't have to hem. We don't get a petite size in jeans here mostly I'll search in stores next weekend, I think. But yes, I do need jeans with shorter inseam. My original jeans (7,8,9) was actually a very beautiful pair originally. But I lost some weight and I hemmed them for flats, and they just lost their amazing fit

Lol Smittie! Thank you! I do have straight jeans from the same brand and they don't whisker either that's why I was keen on this brand in particular. But I guess I'll keep searching for dark wash blue flares!

I do see that they don't whisker which is so great. But yah, the calf fit is wrong. I agree that your existing jeans (7,8,9) are plain, and that ideally, you'd want something slightly tighter in the thigh and more flared on the bottom.

I don't know how many pants you have that don't whisker, but you could try this same brand in a skinny to solve both the whiskering and calf problem. But of course, you might not need more skinnies...

I think the other women have provided excellent suggestions and I can't add upon that except to say, 'good luck Maneera!'.

Hi Maneera --

Fitting jeans, ugh. Agree these should go back.

Q: *Can* you wear a petite or are they too short on you?

I ask because you're wanting a true flare at the bottom. If you're in a R but have to hem the taper still won't be the original one, right?

I know Suz!!! Grr....I'm even more mad! I love the fit on the thighs and wish it flared out right from under the knees.

Getting the 'right' jeans feels impossible! See how this one doesn't whisker?! But then it's a weird fit in the calves. It's almost like expecting too much for jeans to fit right everywhere!?

These are great replies. I was going to suggest a petite also until I heard what Janet had to say. Gosh, jeans shopping is so difficult. Grrr.

I must say, that apart from the calf fit, these jeans look very nice on you.

Thanks Janet. I agree with you. My old jeans are looking short with these boots....they're otherwise fine I just modeled them here with heeled boots because that's all I have available right now (winter boots haven't yet come out of storage yet). I do have flat boots....that's what I plan to wear under these jeans, since they are not hemmed for heels. I only have one pair of black flared jeans hemmed for heels.

Yep, those are baby bootcuts. I had some from Hudson that I enjoyed for a few years, but weirdly enough, after I started cycling more (not after starting running!), they started clinging more to my calves and I was getting the same effect you're getting here, and I didn't care for it on myself. And I have long legs, so it's not that the jeans are long, they're just cut slim through the leg all the way down until the flare starts.

I think you'll like a traditional bootcut/flare more -- the line of the flare is gentler and more gradual from the knee down, and to my eye, more flattering. Your old jeans look a little roomy, plus if I'm not mistaken, they look a little short. Keep looking, you'll find a better cut than these baby boots!

Agreeing with others that these are ok but not perfect. To me, they even seem to hug the model's calves. Good call on returning. I've started loving that some clothing lines' online descriptions list models' height, bust, and the item size they're wearing, but wish they'd take it further and list other helpful measurements--inseam, calf, rise, etc. Or if that's too onerous, list their fit model's measurements--all of them. That kind of into might turn someone like me into an online shopper.

Good luck on finding the perfect pair and enjoy the quest for true satisfaction:)

There are so many potential fit issues with jeans that it is hard to get it right especially when ordering online. If they aren't what you wanted, I would say send them back and keep looking. I have a tendency to keep things that aren't quite right because I am lazy and don't like sending them back but know it is a mistake.

Thank you ladies. Firecracker has hit the nail on the head. Really appreciate your feedback, Sharan. And Tulle agrees.

I think I know the problem. See how long the jeans are on me? I am wearing 3 inch heels. I think they're cut for longer legs. That's why they are clinging to my calves and not the model's. They are designed for legs that are longer from crotch to knees, I feel.

And these certainly aren't statement flares....at least not flared enough. The flare is too low and too little. Definitely NOT what I envisioned. Here are pictures of the look I want.

I already have dark wash baby bootcuts that I like much more.

I'm going to return these jeans pronto. Thank you so much all of you!

Maneera, those first jeans look like what I've seen called "baby bootcut." They are a very slim, barely bootcut. They fit the calves more closely and then flare out. I'm guessing that sizing up won't get the fit you want.

Your current jeans don't fit as closely at or above the knee as you are wanting. They don't look shapeless to me; they just look like more of a relaxed bootcut.

I think you're wanting something in between these two cuts, so I'd keep looking.

The fit looks great!

However, they don't fit you like the fit model which isn't always a bad thing. However, if you want exaggerated flares these are not it. The flare is more noticeable in the pictures taken from the side than the front which is interesting. Not sure why that would be.

I want a dark wash flared jeans for winters. I ordered a pair online a few days back and it arrived yesterday.

It fits. But I think the fit is all wrong. My intention for getting this pair of jeans was to get something with the perfect fit --- fitted on the thighs, but flare perfectly from the knee. Most of my bootcut jeans aren't fitted on the thigh.

However, this particular pair is fitted not just on the thigh but also top part of my calves, and flares out only at the bottom. The jeans are Dorothy Perkins Statememt Flare Jeans. I've attached the pic of how they fit the model.

What to do? Size up? Or return?

Pic 7,8,9 are my existing bootcut jeans and how they fit. I think they're rather shapeless. Or are they fine?
