I'm inclined to just attribute weird crotch lines to bad cut. Not a bad style, but a bad cut on that particular pair of pants. I know I've tried on four pairs of the same pair of pants before in the same size and found some were perfect and some had crotch line. Just the way that particular pair of pants were cut was off.
