Not that it would take much negotiating - Nordstrom will usually do simple alterations for free on full-price purchases. They hemmed a pair of Michael Kors trousers for free for me, and those cost, oh, about 1/20th the price of that dress. I don't think making the slit a bit more modest would be a terribly complex alteration for a skilled tailor. (But what do I know? Even in my other life in which I could afford that dress and it would look wonderful on me, I'd still get the skirt altered to provide more thigh coverage. AlternateUniverseChrizzle finds it vexing that in order to wear her lovely new Donna Karan dress, she needs to first consider whether her bikini wax was recent enough! Or maybe I'm not being imaginative enough.
