I would take it back first to the place that made the glasses and have them double check that they actually filled the prescription and that they measured the center of your eye properly. Then check back with your optometrist to double check your eyes.

Mistakes are a lot more common than you think.

The last time I changed my glasses (my eyewear, that is), they got the prescription wrong. The guy who gave me the contacts had introduced his own data regarding my prescription, but since that one was wrong, the glasses were, too. I was kinda lucky because I didn't like my new frames and because of that mistake, I got to change the frames too free of charge. But, yes, have them checked, just in case. I know mine gave me the most terrible headaches.

One time when I got a new pair of glasses, as I watched the ground in front of me as I walked it appeared to be rising up under my feet! I don't know if this is what you're experiencing. I just needed an adjustment period. But to be on the safe side, I would certainly call the doctor's office. Glasses are too expensive to mess around with having the wrong pair! Errors are made more often than you'd think.

Take it back to where you got the specs. They can test them to make sure they match the prescription.

I've been trying to wear them today, but I definitely think something is wrong. It's weird; I actually can see better in them, as long as I am not focusing on planes. But there is a definite slant to everything that is not adjusting. I am wondering if the scrip is screwy. Of course, I got scrip from dr and specs elsewhere, so I am probably going to be chasing back and forth to fix...thanks all.

And Laura, I would have thought acid would be a lot more fun than this!;)

Yeah, definitely check on Monday to see if there was an error made or a slight problem with the implementation of the prescription. There's an adjustment period when your prescription changes or when you go between glasses and contacts, but you shouldn't feel like you're tripping on acid.

I had a pair of glasses switched from flat to curved lenses because they were hitting my bare lashes, and I felt this way for a bit. Did that change? If not, could be they are not properly centered.

Oh, and they put a reading prescription in instead of distance - I don't even HAVE reading glasses!

I just returned another pair of specs (had a new prescription put into an old pair of retro frames) because the new lenses weren't sharp. Definitely take them back.

Yes, check! This happened to a friend of mine. It turned out they had put the wrong prescription entirely (someone else's!) into his frames.

Your glasses sound like they could have been warped, I'd go check with the eye docs just to make sure

It's definitely worth going back to the optometrist and finding out what's going on. I had a pair of new glasses once that didn't seem right and my eyes were not adjusting to them - it turns out that they had gotten the prescription mixed up and my left eye prescription was actually in my right lens!

Whenever my prescription changes, things appear darker and smaller for a brief time. Not stretched out and I never felt like I was on a boat.

Can you try sitting and reading with them or watching tv, maybe at night, for like an hour? At least then, you won't fall over! And then you can see if maybe all that's required is an adjustment period. And you can check for headaches, too.

And definitely plan for a Monday follow-up! That seems odd to me. Good luck!

Had you been wearing specs or contacts before this? Has your prescription changed? In my experience, if my prescription changes there is always an adjustment period. Things appear a little... wavy, and you might get a headache the first couple of days. If you have old glasses or weren't wearing them before, I'd just try to ease into them slowly, maybe a few hours a day at first. If they're still odd after a few days then definitely get it checked out.

I just got my glasses today and I think the prescription is wrong. I know that it takes some time to adjust to wearing them, but my left side has a different perspective than my right. Everything rectangular is like a stretched out trapezoid. I don't think one gets used to that.

Anyway, my optometrist is gone for the weekend so I can't contact him until Monday. I can live without glasses for a few more days, but I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone before and the outcome? Or maybe I'm just crazy and should wear the glasses for longer than 15 minutes? (I wasn't getting dizzy yet, but I felt like I was on a boat.)
