I think rise is the key here, as hems can be altered. Knee break does come more into play with bootcuts and flares, but no so much with skinnies or straight legs. I'm 5' 4.5" and wear petite jackets often, but never petite pants. Low rise is already too low on regular pants for me!

You'll just have to order both and see which works better for you. I wish there was a "tall petite" because my petite work pants fit great in the rise but the inseam is too short! Sigh.

I find that I can wear both petite and regular, depending on wether it is a top or bottom, and what brand it its. I'm 5'3".

I'm 5'4" and find petites too short. I don't own any premium denim, but I have had luck with brands that offer their jeans in short, regular and long. Usually the short works for flats. I go with regular if I think I might want a heel.

I think it really depends on your inseam. I'm only 5'7" but often need tall sizes in trousers and jeans and sometimes have trouble finding lengths long enough, because all my height is in my legs!

I'm 5'4" and don't usually wear petites, but my Paige Hidden Hills - my favorite jeans ever - are petite. They're 31 or 32 inch inseams, depending on the wash.

If the inseam is the right length, the knee break should come in the right place!

It's hard to say. I find petite bottoms to be too short in the rise for me. (I'm a little over 5'3".) I've only tried Joe's Provacateur in petite but that has been my experience. My Paige denim are regular--I'm not even sure if those come in petites. Good luck!

I pretty much wear jeans 7 days a week, and am considering buying some better quality denim. I'm 5'4" and a lot of the size charts have that on the cusp of being considered petite. The inseams on the petite sizes are listed about where I want them, but I also know they adjust the knee break in petite sizes. I haven't bought anything petite before, so I'm not really sure if I would be petite or not. If I am petite, should I size up? I'm 3 hours from the nearest Nordstrom, so I may be stuck ordering online and returning.
