Interesting, Velma - this was last year and the salesperson did not offer that option. What he said was "maybe these aren't meant for you." Yipes! Will recheck when in Hawai'i again this June!

Alaskagirl, you may want the classic midrise, then, instead of the so-called modern rise. That's what I got, and it falls maybe 1.5" below my navel. I'm wearing the jeans right now, so I can't measure ---but guessing maybe a 8.5-9" rise.

I'm glad these worked for you. I went into the store in Honolulu last year and tried every style - they were too low rise and muffin-toppy for me, sadly! The slight curve would have been right for me, but the rise was something like 7"!

I tried curve ID in store a few months ago...I think as others have mentioned, the demi curve is supposed to be standard sizing, slight would be better if you find that waistbands are typically too tight, and bold or supreme would be best if the waist band usually gaps on you. The size of your derriere is also a factor...if you look at the jeans modeled on the web site, you can actually tell the difference in the model's body types and compare to your own to see which fit might work best. If you are a very small size, the supreme curve option is not available. My waist-hip measurement is 24-35, which is pretty curvy on my petite 5'0'' frame and the bold curve (I think it was true to waist size, 24 or 25...) seemed to fit pretty well.

I tried on a nice pair of straight leg jeans there but had been looking for a bootcut at the time...maybe I'll go back and check again.

Would be great if Levis made 36 inch seams for ladies too. For bootcuts, it's nice to get a little extra length, isn't it.

How about a pair of straight legs, Velma and MPJ?

Mamapicklejuice, I agree that an inch longer would be nice. But these will work for me, especially in the summer when I'm more often wearing flats.

About the sizing, I'd say that Levis has moved only partially toward current (vanity) sizing. I ended up buying a size larger than is typical for me these days--two sizes larger than some of my Gap jeans. But they're a smaller size than I used to wear in Levis 20 years ago--and I'm certainly not smaller!

Thank you so much, Velma!

I'd pretty much blanket-barred Levis after one particularly disastrous day of trying on EVERY. PAIR. of straight-leg jeans in the store, within three sizes of my usual (I stopped counting after the 64th) --- this was about 6 years ago, I think. Not one came up over my legs. Finally, *one* size 16 pair did --- and was entirely pointless on my size 10 butt, which it happily slid right off!!!

Yet I enjoyed my first pair of teenage jeans, which were Levi's, so much! It's good news that I might find a fit there again. The website quiz suggests I'm a demi-curve, but I'm rather leery of that ID; will have to try them on and see, I guess.

I am an apple with rectangle characteristics and the Demi Curve worked well on me when I scoped some out at Ross. Sadly, that pair had some weird pre-fading that I didn't like but the style fit well.

I love 545's and they don't seem to make the same one anymore so this is a good alternative for me to try - so glad you reported!

I'm afraid the website quiz didn't help me enough to choose which curve. I thought I was probably a Demi, but had to try a pair on to feel confident of it. I ordered them to get the long inseam, which is not available locally. I wish they would just give some measurements, but that doesn't seem to be the marketing approach . . .

Goldenpig, my impression from looking at the jeans is that the Slights would work for either rectangles or apples. But I knew that cut was not for me, so I'll admit I didn't give them much attention.

My in-store investigation suggests that Slight is basically a juniors cut; Demi is a "regular" jean, more or less; and Bold and Supreme are both obviously "curvy" cuts. The Supremes had a ton of ease in the hips and thighs, relative to the waist--so that cut must be for very pronounced pears.

Haven't worn them yet, so time will tell on the bagging out question!

How do you tell which type of curve you are? I looked at the website and didn't understand where apples fall into this scheme. It seems like slight curve is for rectangles and the other curvier ones were for hourglass and pears.

Yes, me too, Transcona--the fit on these strikes me as much better than a 505 or 515, say. I tried on both of those Levis styles in the past six months, and they were still a bust for me.

Washing jeans for the first time is always a scary moment. I have a VERY long inseam (33.5" is the bare minimum for flats, and I like 34-35"). These are on the shorter end of my range, but they did not shrink out of usefulness!

So, I ordered a pair of Demi Curve bootcuts with the classic mid-rise on the day that Angie posted evening jeans outfits using Curve ID. Guess the advertising got to me! But I had been thinking about picking up a pair for quite some time.

They were shipped very quickly, and I received them today. They fit like a glove! I was able to get my long inseam, and I love the fit through the rear; no gap at the back-waist, and the somewhat higher rise is very flattering and comfortable.

The denim is a slightly heavier weight than Gap jeans and some others I've been wearing lately--nice drape, nice color. They remind me of the old Levis from the 1990s in a really good way--tough, authentic--with updated styling. I washed them once, and the fit and length seem unchanged.

Looking forward to wearing them soon.
