Alas, I don't think I can justify the price for such limited wearability. I don't think flares are for me, which is too bad because I adore the look *sniff*

Interestingly, Goldsign has provided a solution to this dilemma, but they are way too long for me and Goldsign isn't a good fit on me anyway:

http://www.farfetch.com/shoppi.....63816.aspx

Funny how they don't mention the angled hem anywhere in the description though.

Pretty hard to go wrong with the Seven jeans. I have several pairs of their boot cut style, and I have them hemmed for both my 4 inch heels, and my flat boots. The hem required a slight angle to best cover my knee high boots. No break or buckle in the jeans, and the toe and heel of the boot just peeks out. I will admit it works better on the 4 inch heels than on the flats, though.

I guess I'll wear them with bootcuts.

But that also means these jeans have no chance of being 8 hour jeans, and therefore probably not worth the price I paid Sad.

Have you tried your clogs with bootcut jeans? This might work better.

Try your mary jane clogs with socks and dresses/harem pants.

I do too. But that means the clogs really have no purpose. The whole point of getting them was to give me the height needed to wear a wider leg without the pain of heels. I have the bootie version of those shoes too. I'd hate for them to be orphans...

Do you think a wider leg opening that would cover the shoe would work? Like so:

Angie, I did not see the movie. I almost did...until I found out it was mostly about her love life and other personal details. I'd rather watch Coco After Chanel.

While I like androgynous dressing, I don't actually do it very often. I'm a ball of wonders, I know.

Picture 1 shows how they would look at PPL with the clogs. I really, REALLY don't like that break. It looks so sloppy. It wouldn't be there if the leg opening was wider, hence leaning towards bell bottoms.

Picture 2 shows the length I have them pinned at now. This length works for most of my heels (not that I have very many).

Pictures 3-4 show the same length with other shoes that do not have a platform. They look a little short because of the perspective, but you can't see the gap unless you're crouching on your hands and knees..

I am so sad those red Blochs do not come in my size :(

I have a pair of red Fitzwell wedge sandals in my shopping cart though. I just realized that I have the red Smooches too, but I forgot about them, seeing as how I haven't worn them in months. But red flats would be divine.

I *did* wear my big soft black tunic blouse with long pearls and little tulle bits the other day.

I'm reluctant to do an angled hem. I'd like for them to work with ALL of my shoes, and I don't trust tailors AT ALL, especially given the cost. It costs about $20-$25 to do an original hem, so doing an angled original hem would surely be at least $40, with dubious results and the possibility of only working with one pair of shoes. Uh, no thanks! Off to snap a picture.

Sorry to be an *absolute stickler*, but my tools are blunt unless I see the jeans pinned with the shoes.

AND! Maya, you are much more of Chanel gal than you think (just not a classic Chanel gal). You love androgynous dressing - Coco invented that (see the French Chanel Movie with Audrey Tautou if you don't believe me).

AND! I expect to see a pair of red shoes in your wardrobe this year. It's sacrilege that as a red lover, you don't have a pair. Although you may have made up for it with your killer new red coat

Maya, I totally get this dilemma. My suggestion is to stick with the pants you love and get them tailored/hemmed at an angle. If you say you want 32" in the back and 31" in the front they can sew it to that specification (or whatever measurement you prefer).

My best advice is this: you live in NYC, right? I noticed that there was a preferred service provider list on the Sartorialist site. I recall you don't like this guy, but maybe the "SartoriaList" or something like that, has some good tailor suggestions.

It's really important to find a good tailor. I live in a cow town and my seamstress has ruined two pair of $150-200 jeans already. Well, not ruined but I have to get one of them re-worked and both are now only wearable with flats.

You're way ahead of me on all of this, but in case it provides any useful thoughts:

1. Why are they too long in the front when pinned PPL at the back? I mean, what don't you like exactly when they are pinned PPL at the back?
2. Why not go for hemming at an angle? Could you ask to try it when it has been pinned/tacked ie before they actually go ahead and cut off fabric?

I am trying to get an idea of what length to hem my trouser jeans to, and used these shoes as a guide. The problem is that when I have them pinned at PPL in the back, they are way too long in the front. I think my options are as follows:

-Try to have them hemmed at an angle. The downside is that it would probably be expensive, risky (requiring a skilled tailor and irreversible if anything goes wrong), and they probably wouldn't work with any of my other shoes.

-Hem them for other, non-platform shoes. This idea is a little unappealing because I bought these shoes specifically to give me height without pain when wearing wider pants. If I can't wear them as intended, I should have returned them.

-Find another pair of jeans that covers the foot completely, I think they would have to be at least 22" after hemming, so probably as much as 25" unhemmed. In that case I need to return the ones I got and look for something more like this:

http://www.zappos.com/7-for-al.....lifornia-2

The leg opening would be smaller and less dramatic looking after hemming, but it would drape better over my shoes. I know the whole foot-covering look isn't popular around here, but I actually like it. It looks cleaner to me and your shoes still show as you walk or sit down.

Right now I'm leaning towards option 3 from a practical standpoint, even though I really liked the slim trouser jeans. I'm sure I'd like these too though. They seem to have the same fit, just a wider leg opening. Unfortunately, they are also more expensive.

On another note, either I'm shrinking or I measured my inseam incorrectly all these years. I just measured where I pinned them for another pair of shoes with 2.5" heels, and it came out to only 31". I thought that was my inseam with flats. Weird! I guess I'm not as much of a petite freak as I thought
