Thanks for helping, everyone. I'm leaving them long. I'll revisit and roll after a couple of wears.

These jeans are pretty odd. They aren't boyfriends, Tulle, but a super relaxed straight with weird twists and wrinkles (find below). JFE at best, but they've kind of won my heart.

Sharan, the jeans clear (and hang up on) my moto boots; these higher-shaft boots are pretty darn slim around the calf. I think youre suggesting trying the lower shaft, wider boot with these jeans: correct?

Ann, youre so right: I'm definitely hunting for the right medium wash culotte or crop wide leg (pretty frustrated being sized out in both missy and womens departments).

Aw thanks, Minimalist!

Cerinda, I agree with others on the longer length being plenty intentional but would love to see you in a wider leg that hangs straighter without the wrinkling on the back of the legs and front. May be just my current bias toward crisp jeans though, as I struggle to find ones that don't do this on me. Happy to see you again!

I would wear them rolled and to the longer length-than only cropping with scissors, but still to the longer length.
But Oh WOW, I learned something new today from tulle:
" I roll instead of cropping, letting the rolled cuffs rest at the top of my boots in back, and dip into the boot in front".
Can you provide some picties, pls? I cannot imagine, but very very interested to copy that! Thanx so much.

I would crop to longer length and then roll in addition if desired. These are going to be great on you!

I would stay with the longer length. I get what you are saying about the intentional factor, but I think these are sufficiently cropped to look like you mean what you are saying !

I'd go with the longer length; I prefer that look. Although clearing the top of the boots might be preferable, if there is any awkwardness with pants catching on the tops of the boots. Or in that case, you could roll them as Tulle suggests, and wear them down with the footwear that it works with. Do you have booties with narrower tops, to give more room between the leg and the boot? (I'm suggesting visual space.)

Cerinda, those jeans are pretty roomy on you. With this sort of boyfriend fit, I roll instead of cropping, letting the rolled cuffs rest at the top of my boots in back, and dip into the boot in front. The rolling gathers in some of the width. I like cropped pants that hug the leg down to the knee or just below, then open out over the calf to avoid the loose 'capri pant' look from several years ago.

Cerinda -- No PPL expert, but I am one of those (usually) preferring the longer length crops. I find the length more versatile with respect to my own footwear collection. I think that 2 1/2 is plenty intentional, especially if you plan on further fraying. And, if you decide later on that you need to hack more off, you can.

I'm finally hacking my Gap vintage crops. They were fine with flat sandals (1 1/2" from the top of my ankle bone), but now it's boot season.

Please help me choose a length. I plan to let them fray. They are shorter than this fresh out of the dryer (and they have to go in the dryer). FWIW the few women I see around here wearing wider crops and boots wear them pretty long. I'm leaning toward the longer length but fear it doesn't read as sufficiently intentional.

Front. On my right leg, the jeans are hacked to 2 1/2" above the ankle, Skin definitely shows when I sit, only occasionally in movement. On my left leg, the jeans are turned under and pinned to 3 1/2". The left leg sits exactly at the top of these boots (the shaft on my black boots is 1/8" lower).

Left side. Pinned to 3 1/2"

Right. Cropped to 2 1/2"

Rear view.

What are your thoughts? Your input is welcome (up to and including "Purge those pants posthaste!").
