I have a pair of jeans that is 15" and it's completely straight ( though it can look a little bootcut, but it's not). It is too wide to scrunch, so I had to commit to a length, but because they are straight, I can get away with a bit higher or lower shoe - I hemmed them PPL for 1.5" mini-wedge, but they look OK with both flats and heels up to 2.5".

I’m by no means infallible, but I can remember answering the PPL questions you’ve asked before Plushpenguin. You yourself said I have a great memory :-)

A 16 inch hem width is not a straight leg style in regular sizes. I doubt it will scrunch. You need a narrower hem width for scrunching. That being said, Shiny’s suggestion of hemming to the highest heel is best. An inch difference in heel height might work, but I’m not sure. It depends on the arch of the foot and the shape of the denim. It's a good idea to experiment before you hem.

Plushpenguin, this looks like a bootcut to me. I think you're going to have to commit to a heel height. You can also buy two pairs of the same jean, and have them hemmed two different lengths for two different heel heights.

What my local jeans place does is ask you to take the jeans home, and wash and dry them a few times (yes in the dryer - even if you don't ever plan to put them in the dryer, it's a good idea to do it a few times *just in case* somebody in your family is feeling generous someday and does the laundry for you... hee hee).

Then you come back in with all the shoes you think you might want to wear them with. They start with the highest heel and while you are standing tall, they put a pin in the back of the leg, just slightly above the floor. That is where they hem it, so it doesn't drag on the floor but is nearly all the way there. You can then try it on with other heel heights and see how it works. I believe Angie has said it's okay if they drag with flats and get worn at the edges... it's a "look"... however too much drag, in my experience, means a risk of tripping over oneself.

Patience, for 14" don't you mean you *don't* want to go shorter? I have my straight legs and skinnies hemmed long, so they scrunch up a little, with both flats and heels. Hmm, I guess if you are always going to tuck into boots, then you'd want them shorter though. With flats and heels, I think they look cute with some scrunch.

That's the nice thing about straight legs and skinnies... you can get away with a much greater variety of shoe heights, I think. Hem for the highest pair, and then scrunch with the lower pairs including flats.

It says the leg opening is 16". If that is true, I think PPL for these is to the floor. (from personal experience). At 14" you can definitely go shorter, 15" I'm not so sure.

I know there are several articles on ylf about ppl, including some on skinnies and straight legs, but I tend to wear my straight legs on the wider side, verging on boot cuts. I almost always wear heels. I'm about to buy these jeans for example: http://www.paigepremiumdenim.c.....10109.html
The model herself seems to be wearing these jeans quite long. Are they wide enough to have to graze the floor? Mostly I'm wondering if I can wear them with heels that vary in height by 1 or 2 inches.
