Well... I popped over bc i was wortied you had a terrible experience. But no...phew! Hair looks great i am oversizing my sweaters right now bc i find i shrink them a bit in the wash and the extra size allows for longer wear. The b&w top is fantastic. B&w items have been huge workhorses for me this year and i see this working for you as well!

Oohhh, the hair cut is lovely! Did the stylist straighten it? You have natural waves, yes?

You know, I feel the same way you do when I've tried on tops that have dark raglan sleeves with a printed body. Although I don't dislike #1, I do think you can do better. I've been on the lookout for a solid dark body and lighter raglan sleeves with or without a print. Haven't found one yet unfortunately.

I'm not sure what it is about the blouse in #2 that is throwing me off...maybe it's the high neckline in combination with the closely spaced print? IDK.

New hair is smashing, and love all the 3 outfits! They ae simple and strong, my fave features for you! And, I love the sweater, as it is! But looking forward to see a size larger for comparison, if possible-not much of a help, I know! But be sure, YLF!

You and I have similar shapes, so I love looking at your pics because I can visualize how they would look on me! You are looking thin! And I would keep the sweater as is, it is great :)

Nice hair cut! I am definitely of the mind that print hides a multitude of sins. So worries about pattern on the belly should melt away since pattern there flattens everything out. 2 & 3 are my favorites. I love the design and fit in sweater #1 but I have a preference for higher contrasts. I think these work -- especially the silky blouse I love how it reads gray although it's black and white. Great finds.

So, this is that magic haircut. I like this length on you. Let us know if it behaves as expected.

The sweater is great, looking fwd to seeing it larger.

I like the silk blouse. I think it's an interesting piece for more 'conservative' capsule or occasions when worn on its own. As a layering piece for every day / more casual capsule I would like to see it work with such bright, cheerful pieces as the cobalt jacket which seem to work better with your skin tone.

Oh by your title, I was afraid your haircut turned out to be a trauma. I think it is just right! I think the color and pattern of the sweater are fabulous and I like the blouse very much too. Especially with the cobalt blazer--the neutral pattern works so well with the lovely color. Both keepers.

Peacechick: Yes, you're helping. All opinions, warmly offered, are helpful! K/R threads should always have a wide variety of opinions. The next step for me is to evaluate how both these items fit in my overall wardrobe. I think I'll try the sweater sized up for comparison, and I'll style the blouse with other pieces in my wardrobe. The pattern is "clearer" and more black and white close up --- it looks kind of mushy grey from a distance.

Has anyone else noticed that some items look better from a distance, and others shine more in closeup?

You guys are so helpful! I think you have something, Karymk. I wondered if it could have something to do with a low camera angle (at belly height), but I do think the solid sleeves in contrast with the patterned body might be creating a widening effect. This may be why I rejected the larger size, with more slouch in the band area. Hmmmmmmm.... off to contemplate.

Shannon: Close up, the blouse reads more black/white. The density of the print makes it appear grey from a distance. It seems "clearer" if you know what I mean. I think I look best in clear tones. Smokey or powdered shades are death inducing.

I love the blouse and jacket. Bravo. But I feel like since the sweater's shoulder seams point IN toward your shoulders its creating this illusion of your tummy being wider than the shoulder area. Do you see that? The colors and print are not the problem. Neither is your body! It's the style of this particular garment. If it had been an allover pattern and not the solid shoulders/sleeves, I think it would have worked fine.

I am going to sound like the echo, too. The colors in the sweater are spot on for you. The blouse from a distance can look not to striking but up close the print is very unusual, and I like that. I think it looks good with the blazer but I think the blouse print tones will pair better with another color, actually--something that doesn't pop against it so much, since it runs subdued in tonal quality--maybe black, charcoal, or burgundy.

Thanks, all!

I will see if I can make a jaunt to get the larger size in the sweater for comparison. It isn't snug, but the next size up is slouchier, but wouldn't fit under things as well.

I appreciate the warm encouragement and the honest opinions, too!

Love your haircut, Beth Ann! It looks very current, and the layers frame your face nicely.
I agree with Angie that I'd like to see the next size in the sweater, although that one doesn't look bad. The color's great on you!
Love the blouse!
