Life will probably keep me from this project for at least a week or two, but, if you think it will not look like an old lady couldn't dress herself, I'm game. (As it is, the buttons are sewn onto a band, which is at least a couple of layers thick.) And if you did sew the blouse closed on the diagonal, you could put the buttons on the outside--i.e.,cross the left over right rather than the other way around--so the pocket could just stay where it is.
